I’ve being bothering the public recently with my music.
I use my Yamaha Stagepas 1K PA on a regular basis - it sounds fine to me and to the listeners. It’s very heavy and I’m sixty, I’m playing guitar (electro acoustic ), violin, mandolin and recently Bouzouki. With the banjos I’ve being using an SM 57 and a condenser mic through a Boss looper with phantom power.
I’m planning on doing some smaller gigs (just me) and thought that a more portable acoustic amp that allowed a singer to intrude on occasion would be a godsend. I will also take the Katana for my electric mandolin and when I wig out on the fiddle with effects.
i’m looking for a similar acoustic amp in the same price range as the basic Katana I have (Also in the same weight range). I like the acoustic channel on the Katana and I use it for guitars, but, as there is no end to my versatility, I will require the option of switching amps when I get a bit rock and roll or I feel the folk music coming on.
This is a serious post.
Santa may be watching.
Any thoughts.

I'd look for a little PA on wheels or one-handable at that point, 2-4 channels.
Would let you run mics, acoustic instruments, and get Katana-esque loud.
I have a Bose PA that's battery powered (12+ hours) that fits the bill except cost (it was pushing $600ish, now $650-700 with inflation) and sounds astounding, even if I mostly use it as a bluetooth player for music in the studio/live room now.

I had a Marshall AS80R (Acoustic Soloist) which was a truly wonderful thing. Definitely not to be confused with the later AS50 and AS100. The AS80 was a much classier and more expensive beast. a mini PA if you want it to be, including a mic input and studio quality reverb and chorus. It was the first thing I ever bought on Ebay, from a guy in Edinburgh. We met halfway for the handover, in a car park I did a couple of acoustic gigs with it, but then started an electric band and we only did a few acoustic songs, so I switched to using the main PA. I sold the AS80, but often wish I'd kept it. The problem is it was discontinued long ago, though a very special Santa might find you one. They still surface sometimes: here's one on Reverb (check out the front panel): reverb.com/uk/p/marshall-acoustic-soloist-as80r-2-channel-80-watt-2x10-acoustic-guitar-combo

I have no experience in this area, but I would give Fishman a hard look.

Wasn’t aware of the Fishman. Looking into it.
Thanks again for help.

I’ve had a Fishman Loudbox for a few years and would highly recommend. :-)

Thanks again.
Loudbox mini incoming from Germany. Thomann had a good bundle deal - cover and tuner and cheaper than UK prices.

Late, per usual, but if your inbound doesn’t work out, I’d check out a keyboard amp. Roland used to make a couple. I don’t recall model I had, but it worked perfect for guitar, electronic drums, pretty much anything I wanted to play through it.

I do have a hulking big Yamaha PA that does the keyboards, E drums, backing tracks and other stuff. I’m looking for a small lightweight acoustic amp. Fishman wasn’t on my radar but thanks to the input above, I’m looking forward to inflicting my musical stylings all over the West of Scotland (without breaking my back).

A couple good options.
I've done the Fishman Loudbox, Marshall AC50 and Bose portable. All good. I do especially like the Bose (I think it's the S1) because it is rechargeable battery powered and fairly light but produces a big sound. Can't go wrong with any of these.

Yea, the S1 ain't cheap but it sounds stupid good and as an added bonus, the battery last sages.
It's become the default "bring with on road trips" when camping item for general music playing as an added bonus.

The Stagepas 1K is excellent for Open Mics but it’s really hard to move about - very heavy. I organise a few of those each month and struggle with lugging the PA around.
I’m going to be doing my own thing and the petite nature of the Fishman and the light weight of the Katana will hopefully make me more mobile and able to inflict myself on audiences in a lot more venues.
Thanks again. I’m now waiting to see if the fabled German efficiency will allow me to annoy punters between Christmas and New Year.
I’ll keep you posted.

I think that’s the same one our singer has. I’ve also got a Loudbox :-)
