Sometime ago I noticed that my 65 Twin Reverb re-issue seems to be quieter. It still sounds good, just not the killer volume that it seems like a Twin should have. By comparison, my Vox AC-15C1 seems noticeably louder. I play the Twin at church in our band. I brought it home to check the bias, that seems fine. I recapped it two years ago and it seemed to work just fine after that. I can sit here in my living room and comfortably play it on about 3 1/2 and it almost sounds like a bedroom amp. It has new power tubes as well as preamp tubes that are in good shape. My hearing has degraded a little bit per recent testing so maybe I’m just going deaf lol? Any thoughts appreciated.
Just realized I should’ve posted this in the amplifier repair, please move as needed.

If you have been playing a Twin at 3-1/2 I know why you may have hearing damage. There must be something wrong.

Indeed! I’m exaggerating to say it is “just” bedroom volume, but at 3 or 4 I expect to get that “wow that’s loud!” factor and I don’t really get that. My wife would probably say that it’s loud.

New tubes don't always mean they're good. Could be worth swapping just to find out if you have spares.

Is this something that’s changed? If so, maybe a valve has lost a bit of oomph. The procedure is to swap in a known good spare valve of the correct type into each socket in turn. If no improvement take it out, replace the original valve, and move on to the next socket.

Haha, that’s a downside of using a 1/4” connector for the footswitch, rather than the RCAs of the originals.

Turns out, it’s a push-pull pot!
