Adding a bit more every day as I work out ideas. I have some potential off the wall stuff in store for it around the corner, lol. Been using my cheap Yamaha parlor trying to get a little of the buzzy Django jangle going. Unnamed so far

Very nice. Very catchy. I like how the harmony works to build it up.

Thanks fellas. An interesting thing has been the dramatic difference in how the same guitar has recorded through multiple days. Same mic, guitar, placement, settings. A lot has to do with where I'm picking (I did a lot of close to the bridge work), but some of it is inexplicable. The very last phrase I even added a 5k 2dB bump to the track to compensate for some perceived dullness. Humidity and guitar temperament? Variations in how close to my body I was holding the guitar? Who knows. When I finish I may just retrack everything on the same day, we'll see.

Holding the guitar up against you or resting your forearm on the front will absolutely deaden the resonance of the guitar and change the sound. What location you pick the strings certainly does as well. As for mic placement, the closer it is to the guitar the more drastic small increments in distance and placement will make. I always try to stay at least a foot away from it and depend upon the cardioid mic pattern to help control room ambiences. I am not a fan of the mic-acoustic-shield devices that are usually like a semi-circle with some kind of absorptive material on the inside where the mic is placed but if your room sounds really bad they can help with that. I'm betting that the humidity inside the house with an HVAC system doesn't vary more than 3% to 5% over a couple days unless there are drastic weather changes going on. I wouldn't think that would make a lot of difference in the sound of an acoustic guitar. I'm thinking it would take longer than that for it to soak into the wood enough to alter the sound of it enough to notice anyway. I dunno. I'm not an acoustic guitar aficionado. I've just recorded lots of acoustic guitars. If you are using a large diaphragm condenser mic you might try using one of the Oktava MK-012 small diaphragm condensers you have with a cardioid capsule or even a decent dynamic mic. You can get closer with the dynamic mic and the cardioid rejection is usually better. Still, the closer the mic is to the guitar the more critical small position changes make.

Yeah, I tracked this one with my Rode NT1A about a foot away. Certainly just a few inches of movement makes a big difference. I do have a pair of Ocatavas.

I also tracked thru my Vintage Audio API clone, which unfortunately is a single channel preamp.

I record acoustic guitars with one mic most of the time unless the song is mainly guitar or guitar and vocals. If it's a rhythm guitar track and I plan on double tracking it to make it wider I always use just one mic per track then I'll use a different one on the other to get some contrast. If you did want to use 2 mikes then using a different preamp on each of them can be advantageous. A little bit of a different sound on each of the mikes can be interesting.

Nice as usual. Certainly captures some of that Hot Club vibe.

Finished up for now. I turned this one into the "sister song" of another one of mine called "La Fin Du Monde". Polish for "The end of the world", lol. Went a little goofy at the end I warned my brothers I'd eventually do a song using some of the second language we grew up with. Koniec Swiata
