I have been focusing on improving my musical identification skills. If I have a guitar strapped on I do very well just hearing things and then putting the appropriate fingers where they need to go in order to play the right notes. My weakness is that when I don't have a guitar in my lap I'm not 100% at figuring out chord progressions quickly. Especially when there are unusual chords in the mix.
I bought Rick Beato's Ear Training course on Black friday. He had a deal on a bundle with all of his educational offerings going on for a really good price. I already had his book and Quick Guitar Lessons courses so I didn't need the whole bundle. I got a really smoking deal on just the Ear Training course since I already had all the others.
I have been working on this extensively ever since I got it and my skills have already improved measurably but there's a lot to this course and it's going to take some time to work all the way through it completely. I'm going to work on it until I can get 100% correct 100% of the time. I'm at 98% at this point in the course so I went ahead and kept moving forward. I had to do some review a few times to get to this point. Once I'm finished I'll go through it again to see how I do the second time.
This kind of music education is just as important to me as practicing my guitar. Since about all I do with my guitar is work on recording songs for me and other people, my musical recognition skills are vital to the music and what needs to happen with my part to make it more effective.

I have the Beato Book - both the hard copy version and online. Still slowly chugging my way through the last sections of theory. The ear training sounds like something I may want to get into. Thanks!
