So…. I have been looking at replacement pickups for my new-to-me MIJ tele. Want something higher output but not too dark. I asked a local luthier for a recommendation. He told me to check out Curtis Novak pickups. I have never heard of these before.
Has anyone here ever tried them? If so, please tell me about it.

I cannot speak for Novak pickups at all but there other choices out there that have great reviews and are less than half he price. e.g. I can happily recommend my strat pickups from Tone Hatch. Also recommended here are Rumplestiltskin and Planet Tone (see thread linked below). Bootstrap also mentioned (but beware problems with shipping times and contact). moestavern.freeforums.net/thread/8336/recommendation-strat-pickups

Thanks, DrKev. Not sure if those brands would work or if they have Telecaster options.
