Just got a used Acoustasonic 15 acoustic guitar amp, with 6" speaker in a closed cabinet.
Just thinking out loud-
would swapping in an 8" speaker, for a fuller response be a worthwhile project? looks like there's room.
If I left the original sound hole (maybe 5"), and didn't expand it, would that impact the sound?
Could I assume that I can simply find a hi-fidelity speaker with matching impedance and power rating to swap in, without worrying about other stuff?
THANX for any input...

How do you know that whatever 8” speaker you settle on will have a fuller response than the stock 6” speaker? Undersized sealed cabs will tend to exacerbate the sharpness (Q) and magnitude of the speaker’s bass resonance. That’s the cause of the bass thump / honk of Marshall etc 4x12 cabs. That may not play well with a guitar amp for acoustic, as it may be prone to feedback around the bass resonance frequency. An oversized rear mounted speaker for the baffle cut out may result in the cone hammering into the baffle.

What Peter said…
I would say that, given the amp, even a replacement speaker might not be worth the cost.

Get yourself a cheap extension speaker cab. Install a speaker out jack on the amp if it does not already have a jack for the speaker.
Make sure the extension speaker impedance matches what the amp wants to see.
