Never thought I would not be able to locate one of these.......I tried Stew Mac, Ebay, Reverb, etc. and have come up with zippo.
the one I have is black and I want to replace it with chrome or even white/cream.....but the black is ugly
any advice and help is appreciated!

I don't have one handy, but what pickup are you trying to mount? Might be a helpful search term.
I was always disappointed these never took off... getting the face of a pickup parallel with the strings really does help tone.

I spray painted a LP pickguard before, then clear coated with lacquer. Could that work for the trim rings?

Yeah...I check that site. I'll be able to know a bit more when the guitar shows up. I will email him a close up picture with measurements and go from there

Hmmm If I needed one, I'd drill the two holes needed on either side of the existing one. Then I'd find a matching screw head, cut it so there's 1mm of shank under the head, and CA it into the middle hole, thusly:

Do the ^^^fake screw thing^^^ only if that little hole bugs you.

Then 2 more fake screws on the other side.
It will make it look uniform and …
confuse the hell out of anyone wanting to adjust P/U height. 😋

Yeah, if I needed one I'd probably make one. I tried searching and came up with nothing. Fender USED to be really good about every part on a guitar having an item number in the XXX-XXXX-XXX format and being accessible, but I couldn't find a BOM on the website. Another way to fill the hole would be if you have some epoxy around in a similar and/or tolerable color. Put packing tape cleanly over the front of the ring, and put the epoxy in from the back. Make sure it is evenly spread up against the tape with no swirls or bubbles (easy to do), and let it cure tape side down. When cured, peel the tape off and it'll look very clean. You might have to use something to clean off some tape residue stuck to the epoxy, but it should look great. Maybe no worth going out and buying epoxy just for this, but a good solution if you have any lying around.
Edited to add: Having the Fender part number might not help you get it from Fender, but can also be handy as a search term. Same with AllParts numbers... a lot of times you can find AllParts stuff more easily by punching the part number into Google than actually going to AllParts.

Having the Fender part number might not help you get it from Fender, As part of my research I did contact Fender and it was no suprise they couldn't help....however they did give me links to about 10 different web sites that could...and the link Pine Tree gave appears to be the one with the most potential.... Guitar comes today (Yippee!)....so who knows I might fall in love with the black when I see it.......jeez I haven't bought a guitar in years......I'm so excited!!...;-0

Well it appears that I've done all of this research for nothing....the pickup has 3 holes on each side....couldn't see this in any of the pictures before I got it...so it looks like a 2 hole pick guard will work fine......might go chrome...

I love the idea of a third (or even fourth) height screw, but you probably won't sacrifice much by not having it. I find I get nice results by being obsessive over pickup position, but I'm in a tiny minority and most people never notice or care that much.
Oh, and if the chrome ring is painted plastic and you decide to try my epoxy trick, I might use scotch magic tape (not the cellophane) instead of packing tape, because sometimes those paints want to peel.

When you first mentioned that the pickup ring was a 3 hole type, the first thought I had was that it was a Carvin style pickup ring, but since you had received the guitar and found that it was a 4 hole type, I'm thinking that that would be actually ideal because of the ability to angle the pickup with the angle of your strings. The 3 hole type also allows you to angle the pickup that way. You must first get the height correct then you can angle the pickup to follow your strings. Both have that option but the 4 hole pickup ring makes for better stability when fine tuning your setup. Glad you discovered that! I have some older TV Jones pickups that have the 4 hole tabs on the pickup. They are closer together and can only make slight angle modifications to them but still a nice feature.

well I was able to play the guitar with a bass player friend and drums.....I had to fiddle a bit with the humbucker to get it to my liking.......and the black ring isn't as bad looking as I originally thought....the neck is right up my alley..medium jumbo's 9.5 radius, and modern C profile.....
the biggest complaint I have with it , is the volume pot moves so easily, that when my picking hand would hit it while playing it would turn the volume down.....so I fabricated a rubber grommet and put it around the pot shaft and tightened the knob while lightly pressing down on it so as to create some friction...
hmmmm... I wonder what Peegoo would have done...lol

^^^This. A small 3/16 rubber O ring slid down beyond the knurling so it rubs on the top of the threaded collar.

^^^This. A small 3/16 rubber O ring slid down beyond the knurling so it rubs on the top of the threaded collar. that is essentially what I did....I went through one of my parts bins and found one of those grommet's they use to isolate a power cord going into an amp...took a razor blade to slice it in half side ways, and placed it over the shaft before installing the knob....crude yes, but effective until I can get to my local ACE and get a few O rings...Aisle 21, right hand side just as you enter the Aisle... ( i used to work there and the locations of just about everything in the store are still embedded in my brain!)
P.S..... I knew you'd have a solution..

Rubber O-rings help.. I personally like Alpha pots. Yeah.....you beat Pee to it ....Don't know if I mentioned this or not, but the volume pot is one of those Fender S1 switches....so my choices are pretty limited if it needs replacement...... this is my first experience with the S1....in the past I've used small mini switches which is what I prefer...tried the push pull pots and didn't care for them
