Hi all. I'm looking for a way to use my Fender Super Champ XD limited edition but increase it's volume at gigs. I know you can take the line out to mixer but that is just the preamp feed and the output tubes impart so much tone to the sound. Is there a device which could allow the amp to be used like normal feeding it's own speaker but take a 2nd tap off the speaker out for an IR type feed to the PA?

You could run into an attenuator that has a line out. Run that into a power amp and cab.

Thanks. I would like to keep the amp functioning as normal and not attenuated, only want more volume of the tone I've already got. Going into another amp isn't an option as it will color the sound too much. Just found the Radial JDX 48 and it looks interesting to supplement the stage sound. Wish they made a 50 watt version of this amp. I love it so much, just an amazing Tweed Bassman setting that works so well with the P90's on my guitar.

To take the amp through the PA, why not put a mic in front of the speaker? To just make the amp louder, I suggest to take a line out from the speaker and feed it into the fx loop return / power amp input, of a cheap good solid state combo. This Suhr box could be used for the line out www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/15022515303851--suhr-iso-line-out-box

Try a more efficient speaker? I have a SC X2 and put a Rajin Cajun in it. Sounds good and is loud as heck.

A very simple way to pump up the volume would be to disconnect the internal speaker and plug into a 2x12 cab. It will sound huge. Make sure to match the impedance! If you're up for a little soldering project, make this: You can make this semi-permanent by omitting the alligator clips and soldering the leads directly to the speaker lines + and -. MOOY IMPOR-TAN-TAY: 1. Keep the amp's onboard speaker connected when using this line out. 2. Don't exceed around 5 or 6 on the amp's volume control so the OT stays cool.

A lot of good suggestions here. I know it sounds odd to be trying to scale up a 15 watt SuperChamp XD but I've finally found a guitar amp combination which gives me a super touch sensitive response for blues. And it is only on one of the 16 models within the amp but that's all I need and use. Thought about modifying my Fender DRRI to act as the power amp section to the SuperChamp's preamp section giving me 22 watts but the speaker would need to be changed to one resembling the frequency response in the SCXD. The easiest solution I suppose is to place a mic in front which then captures the amp's character but doesn't give me more volume on stage. I could kick it up in the monitors except we're not using them in these small little clubs. Maybe I'll find a second SCXD and stack em hahaha.

If it's just to hear it better on stage for yourself, do you have it elevated and or pointing directly at your ears ? Might make all the difference.

Duh! [aimed at ME] The SCXD does already have a line out. Connect that to the input of your DR.

Unfortunately the line out is from the preamp, it’s missing any tonal contribution from the power amp. But if the amp sounds great at low volume, it’s probably fine.
It might be best to use the low input of the DR’s normal channel, and start with the DR’s treble and bass controls at minimum (flattest frequency response).

So many great suggestions. I have lifted the amp up much higher to hear it, will mic it tonight just to help it punch through. The amp is basically a modelling front end with a Princeton type tube output section. I might buy a used VibroChamp XD as it is just one channel and try to create a Frankenstein using the DRRI as it's tube output section. Change the speaker on the DRRI to one like the SCXD but with more power handling capability. From what I understand the scxd speaker is more flat response allowing the model of the amp to be replicated rather than impart tonal color from the speaker itself.
