I found a "mint" American Vintage II '57 Series Strat on Reverb (from a dealer) in Sea Foam green. It was less than a new American Pro II.
So... yes I did.

Indeed; very nice! It's amazing how inflation has pushed prices into the stratosphere. Pardon the pun. In 1997 I paid $800.00 for a new American Lone Star Stratocaster. And that was a difficult pill to swallow for me at the time.

I remember just a few years ago when the AmStd Strats were under a grand. Now they're rebadged (Am Pro, Am Pro II) and they're $1699. Looking at that price, I paid significantly less than a new AmPro II.
It's the most I've ever paid for a bolt-neck guitar. And it's slightly more than I paid for my '17 Trad Lester. So now this is the most expensive guitar I own. I'm happy with that, though, given what it is.

I love the amber neck versus a blanched hue of many Fender necks.

Its funny how some colors come across. I have a Warmoth thinline that is seafoam green that is way less vibrant than that. Yours looks more like daphne or maui blue on this side. Whatever it is, its gorgeous. Congrats.

Me too, but I suspect the white balance is off in that photo. I’ll get a decent shot once she’s here.

Glad you found one you wanted though!

The only missing from that guitar is the squadron decal on the headstock.

I bought an AVII '75 Tele Deluxe this year with a 15% discount and it was still twice as expensive as American Fenders cost "in my head". It's what got me down the Gibson rabbit hole - when I could get a slate of midrange Gibsons new for the price of any then-available Jaguars or Jazzmasters (MIA) - the cheapest of which was a Marr signature model, mind you...I just couldn't justify Fender any more in my head for pricing. Or when the Mexi stuff, as much as I love mine, cost on par with Gibson.

Review:
The setup on this guitar is excellent! The tones are what I expected/hoped for. I like those a lot. Given the "vintage," I'll probably load pure nickel strings to round out the experience.
This is probably more-aptly graded a B-Stock. On the back of the body are some very light imprints in the clear - most likely(?) from the case. It takes the right light to even see them. For the price... not a big deal to me. Otherwise the guitar looks flawless.
The bad...
Fender wired up righty pots lefty (and used right knobs). So I will need to open her up and rewire this righty - like all my other guitars - including my Gibsons which come wired righty. I'm disappointed as Fender used to know better when it came to the American line. Apparently that knowledge is now lost. Again - for the price - I'll fix this with the first string change - which will be soon any way.

I bought an AmStd (new) back in 2011 and they knew to wire it correctly, back than.

Very nice looking Eric! Which Pure Nickel strings do you like. I have come to love the D'Addario Pure Nickels
Since I have never played a lefty, when you wire them up righty do they work backwards? Also, do they make lefty pots? Indulge a "dummy" please

I'll answer the wiring, question
Yes they will work backwards you are just changing the pot sweep
Lefty pots are available they are just a reverse taper
on the strings what Lefty likes is anyone's guess
but i like GHS big core nickel rockers

Ernie Ball - I really just buy the least-costly these days in the size I use.
As leftrightout states, there are reverse audio taper pots (and reverse numbered knobs) to wire a guitar lefty. I've never gone down this road. Gibson goes with their stock electronics wired stock (righty). Over the years I just rewire all my guitars righty. It's what I'm used to.
With linear taper pots it doesn't matter which way they're wired. It's the audio taper pots that create the problem. Most noticeable are tone pots. If you wire a standard audio taper pot "lefty," the taper is backwards, so the tone pot has no affect on the tone until you get to the end of the pot's turn. Then the tone instantly turns to mud.
