I got the new Capi 511 - 500 Series, filtered rack kit built and installed into my setup yesterday. That's a real nice unit. I put my old API 500 Series Lunchbox on Reverb today and it sold in 3 hours. I priced it a little above what the going rate has been and it sold anyway. Maybe I should have asked more for it. I only had one scammer and I put that to bed quickly.
I should be getting delivery on a second Great River MP-500NV microphone preamp tomorrow if the USPS doesn't drop the ball again. They already stumbled once and it didn't get delivered. Ya gotta love it when a plan comes together. Now if Sweetwater can ever get the SSL EQ's in stock I'll be set. They said "end of the month." We'll see.

I knew it was too good to be true. It turns out the buyer was the same scammer I had reported to Reverb Customer Assistance yesterday. I waited until this morning for payment and when it hadn't happened yet I was going to send them a message letting them know I could ship it as soon a s payment was made. When their account stated they were unable to receive messages I knew what had happened so I contacted Customer Assistance again. They let me know that account had been suspended. I'm sure this order was retaliattion from the scammer for my reporting them yesterday and telling them in very colorful language what I thought of them.
How did someone place an order if their account had been banned??? I HATE scammers. Reverb cancelled the order, relisted it for me, and gave me a free bump to the top of the list for my efforts. They assured me that person wouldn't bother me again. I just don't know what's going to keep the scum from opening another account and continuing their crap.
You would think the scammers would come up with a new con. They are still using the old, " I will send you a check and the shipper will pick it up from you," crap that I first saw over 10 years ago. There must still be people falling for it somewhere.

Its been several years since I've used Reverb to sell but found it really easy and efficient. This and other accounts makes me think I'll probably never sell anything again. Yikes.

After cancelling my last listing and relisting the item, I just got another scammer message exactly like the first one. I reported it to Reverb as well. This thing hasn't even been listed for 24 hours yet and I've already had to cancell one sale and relist the item due to the M-----f------ scammers. I told Reveb if this happens again I'm selling my stuff somewhere else. I shouldn't have to deal with this crap. I have always had good luck using them in the past. Reverb's technical crew should be able to sort those accounts by looking at IP addresses and not just email account names. They already know this person has accounts under multiple email addresses. They need to look deeper. Account being under investigation is poppychicken. It's starting to look just like Craigslist with the scammers.

Seems like you've been specifically targeted for some reason. Have you considered creating a different account?

I think I am targeted for the same reason sellers get targeted on Craigslist. I'm selling something for more than $100. Ebay used to have this problem but I can't remember the last time I had a scammer like this on Ebay. They sorted it out so Reverb should be able to as well.
I could make another account to use and I might try that before I bail completely. I'll give it awhile and see how it goes.

I’ve experienced scammer activity on Reverb is recent weeks myself. I list a lot of things with the make offer option. Soon after listing I get an offer for the full listing price. Along with the offer is a no spaces message to text a phone number. I always decline these.
I seriously doubt you have been targeted. It’s just how they work. Closing the account and opening another won’t change things.
Reverb has been wrestling with this issue. I’m sure they will prevail.
It’s the way of the world these days. No site is safe.

I pondered a house cleaning of odds and ends like pickups, small combo, etc. on Reverb. This indictation that they too have been infected has put it on hold. Maybe that's the real intention of these "scammers". Chaos and disruption.

They’ve only cropped up and a few of my listings. Very few.

There will probably be more before there's not. I hope Reverb can find a way to curb their activity. I have been getting a rash of phishing text messages on my phone of late telling this or that account is going to be suspended. I don't even have an account for almost all of them. I think tax rebate season may be the reason for the uptick in scammer activity everywhere. They probably want to cash in on the tax refunds while people have money in their accounts.

I’d believe the scammer/hacker thing is only going to escalate. It may ebb and flow, but it’s only going to get worse from year to year.
With state sponsored activity, I don’t see it getting better.
