There are certain events in everyone's early life that stand out as "imprinted". As in, "I'll always remember ......". I was 7 or 8 when I went with my older brother to see "The Creature from the Black Lagoon," our first horror movie. By today's standards, a pretty cheesy black and white film, but a stand out for me. Read that the swimming actor, Ricou Browning, who played the title role in that and the sequels has died at 93. RIP Gill Man. i.postimg.cc/C5vq3y42/lagoon.jpg

Nowadays, what with Vietnamese manicure salons everywhere, his nails would never go unattended like that...

Unfortunately, we already lost Pete Dunn (who played the Monster of Piedras Blancas) back in 1990.

Awwww sad. That one scared the bejeebuz out of us kids.
My connection to the film is the boat captain Lucas, played by Nestor Paiva. He was an uncle of my mama's.
He played bit parts in other films and did some TV as well.

Low budget horror and sci-fi movies were as much a part of my youth as 25-cent/gal gasoline. “Creature” is still one of my favorites. I had a model of it that I hand painted. It terrorized my bedroom for years. Of course the underwater scenes of Julie Adams in a white swimming suit had some impact on me. And, who can forget ubiquitous actor Whit Bissel.

He had a decent run.
I remember a movie or TV show about a Rabid German Shepard. Scared the heck out of me most of my life.
I once ask the veterinarian if I could get the Rabies shot, I was 8 or 9. Probably why I have always carried fire arms in the wilderness. When I was very young a sling shot or BB gun.

I built all the monster models when I was a kid, including the Creature.

I think that's one of the better scary monster monsters.

To this day, I've never seen that movie. The one that got me as a kid was "The Legend of Boggy Creek".
