As always in March, I've had enough of feeding the wood stove. Overnight lows are in the -10C department, so wood is still on the menu. The only guy I know my age who still moves wood is our wood guy. This cat is a tad older than me and he's still bucking up twenty footers, loading trucks and delivering wood. A fine example of the use it or loose it theory. I'm in the same camp, but this cat is tougher than me.

A fine example of the use it or loose it theory. That cliche gets truer the older ya get. The end may be a forgone conclusion, but I'm fighting an orderly retreat.

Not to hijack the narrative or be demonstrative, but my older brother is another tough SOB who is made of stronger stuff than I ever was or will be. Not long ago he was posting pics of his wood chopping/cutting adventures. Today he's in the hospital clinging to life with one tube draining his gall bladder and another draining fluids around his lungs. Still no diagnose if his liver cancer has metastasized but it doesn't look good.
Chop wood while you can, and keep a sharp stick handy to poke the grim reaper in the eye should he start lurking.

Sorry to hear about your brother, cancer truly sucks. My fear is when something happens to me, I linger in that place of not getting better or moving on to the inevitable quickly.
