Brands change hands.
Remember when CBS bought Fender, and then the silverface amps and three-screw-neck Strats and Teles were issued and they were all crap? All those are now A Thing! So I'm not too concerned.

For nostalgic reason I’m a bit saddened by this. I don’t believe this is a bad thing, though.

Didn’t Korg own Marshall at one time?

No. I believe Korg was a distributor.

It seem to me to be a good thing. Zound Industries are the Swedish company that makes the Marshall bluetooth speakers and headphones. They have been working with Marshall for ten years and have grown to be a HUGE success. Yes, it marks the end of family ownership for Marshall but they retain 24% stake of the new joint business, so they are not out, just a minority partner.

The old man lived for the company he built - you can't expect his children and heirs to be quite as gung-ho.
They're still going to be involved, but...it's not a mom and pop shop and hasn't been for, well, most of our lifetimes!

I think it’s probably too early to say whether this will be a good thing or a bad thing.
What I will say is that I started off in the late ‘70s playing Marshall stacks, and I’ve still got a JCM900 and JVM 205. Marshalls are still good value amps here in the UK, particularly the studio 20 range, and if they can renegotiate the US distribution deal whereby they’re not double the UK price in the US I think that can only be a good thing.

They are still very popular here. Even at the price.

No. I believe Korg was a distributor. Still is (not implying you don't know that). VOX for instance. Guys rave about "Korg-era AC-30s" (meaning the Marshall-built ones in the U.K. from the mid-90s through 2003). Current AC-30s are still Korg. Just manufactured in Vietnam.

Brands change hands. Remember when CBS bought Fender Indeed they do. FMIC doesn't even own Fender. A Hawaiian car-related company does. Servco Pacific.

I'm surprised I've never owned a Marshall.

I can't say I've felt like Marshall was delivering the best for its customers - lots of cool amps, but there always seemed to be a disconnect between what they were making and what people wanted them to make. Discontinued models seem to often people people's favorites. If the new owners think they can go nuts with the Marshall name and make a whole bunch of money right away, then expect some seriously weird stuff. If they just want to be in it for the long haul with a reliable customer base, I'm sure it'll be fine.

I'm interested to see what changes occur in the lineup. Marshall has always made money off of their legacy. The latest - the SV and SC 20 heads and combos. I have a SC20H and it has that JCM800 vibe in spades... albeit lower power. Love that amp!

As coincidence would have it, I stumbled upon this lefty review.
Alas, at nearly two grand, it's outta my budget. Maybe if I didn't have the Maz 18...

That's one of the current series Epiphone LPs. 😎
The 10" speaker in the combo (and the price - even used) has kept me away from those.
I've got a SC20H and I matched it up with a pair of Marshall Haze 1x12" cabs - and angle and a strait. The head sits nicely on top of those to create a full-stack 2x12 setup. The cabs still have their original Celestion A type speakers, but I've got some more appropriate replacements waiting in the wings.
It is a very groovy rig!

I’m not sure that they make them to the same circuit though? Whereas the Marshall designed and built AC30 was largely accurate to the 60s original. Except for a couples of gaffes, including the worst ever standby, which would be comical if it wasn’t regularly eating GZ34 rectifiers, giving them a bad name. It’s a shame that Korg dropped the vibrato / tremolo circuit after the Marshall era; it’s a great sounding effect, probably better than the Fender brown era vibrato, not quite as good as the Magnatone. But it uses 5 triode sections so is probably difficult to justify.
