...inside was a newspaper clipping of the obituary.

It was dated 9/27/2000, clipped from the Peoria Journal Star.

Pretty neat bonus I wasn't expecting!

I also read Samauri, great read.
Sad what happened to him after the war. A great pilot and basically left to starve.
You should enjoy the book. Two versions, one is illustrated.
