Just purchased a Sire Larry Carlton H7. I have long wanted a 335 style guitar and after seeing the quality of Sire’s basses I decided to give this one a shot. These are two of the photos of the exact guitar I ordered. imgur.com/a/4z5Cbh8

She’s a beeee-yoot! Congrats! 😎
From all I’ve read Sire seems to knock it out of the park in the price range.

I have long wanted a guitar that looks like that. In red, even. A Gibson ES-335 is WAY out of my price range. Your guitar looks very interesting.
How does it play?

Very nice. I ended up with an Epiphone ES-335-Pro due to Covidy lockdown boredom stuff. Still playing it.
You need a Casino now. P90s and all that.
Moejo for your impending delivery.

Casino’s are nice! Glad your Epi ES-335 is doing really well for you. I play bass mostly even though I used to play guitar since age 12 in 1964. Unfortunately I have only been mediocre on guitar but wish to change that in near future.

I have long wanted a guitar that looks like that. In red, even. A Gibson ES-335 is WAY out of my price range. Your guitar looks very interesting. How does it play? It is super nice Henry! The neck 1 9/16” at the nut with rounded binding and frets are heavenly to play. It has good action and easy to play. Has a thick bone nut. The notes are on target. It sounded good out of the box but did some tweeks to the intonation. The saddles are very easy to adjust, tuners super buttery smooth and has a 12 inch radius fretboard. A tag said the strings were changed to Ernie Ball premium strings. Its tone is smooth with crisp treble or tone slightly rolled back very Jazzy (due to the Ebony Fretboard and other factors). Has very good output, good intonation and easy to play. Doesn’t fight me to play it. The tone can be used for Jazz, Blues, Rock and about anything really. It has a narrow depth body. The fit and finish are very nice! Binding on Body including the F holes and the neck is done well. The Ebony has some grain to it (not a lot but looks good) It is an Amazing guitar at an Amazing price point. As with my two Sire Basses, I am very happy!

Forgot to add it has laminate Maple on the body and a Maple Center Block that probably contributes to the crisp treble as well

Congrats!
I've heard a bunch of good stuff about the Sire brand and handled one at a local shop that was hanging on the wall as a resale. Pretty impressive for their apparent high quality and low price.

I watched this video using good headphones to see how the Sire H7 compared to the Gibson ES-335. Is the Sire as good as the Gibson, honestly not quite but the amount of difference is definitely not 3 times as the price would indicate. Watch it and make your own minds up. To me the biggest difference is playing each one un-amplified.

One critic I have, while the debth of the nut slots seem fine a few of the strings mostlu the higher E, B , & D seem a little narrow in width as I hear some pinging when tuning. I will use some nut sauce on them for now but thought I would mention it.

Yea, the 3x+ price tag applies to any of the good imports these days - and the Sires seem to be in that category, as do the higher end Epis.
They're not junk like they used to be.
Don't get me wrong, I love my Gibson 339 but...it isn't radically "better" than my MIC Casino. Fit and finish are MUCH nicer on the Gibson and I like the nitro feel more, but...again, many times expensive!

I really like that. Nice grain, nice color. I don't have a 335 anymore, but I still have my Heritage 330 (same body style, full hollow). I love that style of guitar.

Nice guitar. Really good and affordable guitars coming out of Asia these days. Larry wouldn’t put his name on something he wasn’t satisfied with.

I took the strings off and oiled the fretboard. I figured I would install a set of Pure Nickel Strings on it that worked so well with my Gibson SG Standard and another guitar. Didn't sound as good so I put the Ernie Ball 3221's Nickel Plated Steel (10,13,17,26,36,46) like it came with back on and much much better. These strings make this guitar sing.

Before I forget, when I put strings back on I checked 3 times and came up with 36 half turns making the tuner ratio 18:1 which is quote decent for me anyway. Most stock tuners including my Gibson were typically 14:1 and some as low as 12:1.
