Will be getting a new Warmoth P-Bass body eventually. I put a Hipshot kicka$$ bridge on a previous build and I like it just fine, but wondering if there's anything new or different instead of just "the same old Fender bridge" to put on this one. I saw the Ray Ross bridge, but all my strings have silk windings on the ball end, so not even sure if that would work. Has anyone installed a Babicz bridge and noticed a huge change in definition/sustain/articulation? That ne would be the top end of my budget. The main one that piqued my interest is the Gotoh carbon with Titanium saddles, as it still looks like a 'standard' Fender bridge, but with updated materials. Anything on that one?

I haven't really spent a lot of time seeing what is new and schmancy out there. I did install a Babicz years ago when it first came out and was impressed with it. I was worried it would sound kinda like a bad@$$ bridge (which is fine if that's what you like) but it actually sounded closer to a regular bridge than I thought it would. It definitely sounded good, maybe a bit more solid sounding than a standard bridge, but again, not like a bad@$$. My memory isn't clear enough to be more specific than that. I haven't tried the Gotoh you mention, but everything I ever use from Gotoh is well designed and well made.
I have a Warmoth J that I built years ago that uses a Gotoh that is mostly just standard spec, but it has a slightly thicker plate and two screws in the front to help avoid it picking up. I like that as well.
Never tried a ray ross, but the description has me raising an eyebrow. The ads seem to talk about how it is a foregone conclusion that eliminating parts will increase string vibration. You might get a brighter tone, but I can't see any reason why it would be more efficient. Think how a string through top is sometimes brighter than string through body, but even more brightness... that's my hypothesis, anyway. More or less "energy" makes no sense, but you are just messing around with vector forces.

My current plan (though I've not ordered anything yet) is to go with a Leo Quan Badass II.
My understanding is it will mount right up to the factory Fender (P Bass) prepped body.
I figured to order my Warmoth bass body blank drilled and prepped as a P Bass then I'll cut my unique body shape.
I have the Leo Quan Badass V on my Warmoth G5 bass.
