So, I had mentioned on the Fender Twin Reverb, that using the 'Power Amp In' goes directly to the power amp and does bypass the preamp section, but if I try to use it as an effects loop send and if use the 'Preamp Out', would this create an effects loop? Next: If I just use the POWER Amp In only, will it cancel the amps speaker output? I'm trying to figure out how to create an effects loop on my Hotrod Deluxe amp, but it is not working at the moment. I'm asking these questions because I would like to have a Fender Clean amp sound for my effects board and use my effects like I do with my other amps that have an effects loop. I have many expensive amps that I don't want to haul around and think that the Hotrod Deluxe would be enough power for most purposes. Currently, I have 2 rows of effects pedals, 1) all time based effects 2) all my dirt pedals, tuner and an EQ pedal. So, can this work or will I need to stay with my amps that have an effects loop? If this can work, do I just plug into the amps input with my dirt pedals and then run my time based effects as an effects loop per my previous question?

If I understand this video correctly, preamp out is like an effects send and power amp in is an effects return.

Wow, that was exactly what I was looking for Mark! I thought I had read this correctly before and this confirms that information. Spot On! Thank you so much! I also understand that if I were to plug in my Boss GT unit into the power amp in, that would use the amps built in amplifier as an 'amp only' and can have that unit provide all the amplification for that unit. So, it's time to get my Hotrod Deluxe repaired and give it a shot. I'm not sure if I need to use the return signal on the amp and route that back to the unit but I can try that also. I appreciate your help and to find the exact example of the amp I want to use was awesome! Thank you brother for that! Woody

Depending on which GT you have (if it has an effects loop in the unit itself) you can do the "4 cable method" - where you can put SOME effects before the pre, some after - useful if you like to use the HRD's drive section etc.
