I've been thinking about these for several months. Sweetwater recently had a deal, so I took the plunge. Still getting used to the fact that the string closest to my face is not the E, but am otherwise happy with the purchase. It plays well and only weighs 8 lbs.

Still getting used to the fact that the string closest to my face is not the E Nice. When I first moved to a five, I had the same problem. What helped me a lot was to anchor my thumb on the 5th string instead of on the pickup. That gave me the feel that the 4th string (E) was still in the right place. It also helps to mute that 5th string because it tends to vibrate sympatheticly with everything. It all gets better with some practice. I switch between 4 and 5 strings without problems now.

Congrats on your new bass. Spectors Euros are such well made instruments. How do you like the 16” radius? It took me a while to get used to it but now it’s not something I even notice. Hope to pick up a Bantam 4 someday. The white with the dot less dark board is rather elegant. Thanks for sharing.

I had a Rebop several years ago, which was a nice bass; but I never got comfortable with the neck, and eventually sold it. No problems with the neck or radius this time.

My first 5 string was A Music Man Stingray back in ‘89 and I remember the confusion I experienced when trying to sing the Doors “Love Her Madly” while playing that 5er. I thought I could just go on autopilot and all would be cool…wrong! It was friggin’ pandemonium when the muscle memory took while the mind is thinking about lyrics I’m singing. My guitar player told me “don’t bring that da**ed bass on a gig again”.
