I have a guitarist buddy I have been in a band with for years who has a Schecter 7-string in which the lower part of the pickup cover broke. Does anyone here know if any 7-string cover would work as a replacement or is a specialized part necessary?
My first guess is that this is specialized.

If it's an EMG then you can't take it apart. They don't have replacement covers for them, you would have to buy another pickup. They are sealed and would have to be sent back to EMG for repair. Which type of pickup are we talking about? Some passive pickups have bobbin covers that can be replaced by unscrewing the pole pieces (carefully) and replace them. Schecter uses a lot of different pickups, mine has EMG 85/81's. The covers are solid and either sealed with epoxy or electronically. Not replaceable. If it is a passive type, then hold it together with a clamp and unscrew the affected side and replace the cracked bobbin cover. Best regards always, Woody

He suspects DiMarzio, I suspect an in-house pickup.
It's an Omen Extreme if that matters. A 7 string at that.

My Schecter is also an Omen 6, which came with EMG's. I want to get the Platinum model with the same pickups but has a set neck. They have replacement bobbin covers, just do a search and you might get lucky. If you are talking about the pickup rings, they are easy to find but if it is the bobbin covers, then you might need to get a hold of Schecter to get the same type needed. That way it will have the Schecter logo on it. Hope you find what you are looking for! Woody

Hey, on Reverb I found a set of pickups for $50+$10 for shipping. These are 1990's and have 4 conductor wiring for coil splitting. Check it out and see if this is what he is looking for.
