Way back when I was a newbee learning to guitar my friends and me would visit the local Ma and Pa's music shop and one we were their they had one of these hanging on the wall and I instantly knew I had to have one...some day. I'd never seen such a beautiful guitar at the time and I've thought about it from time to time ever since. The particular one I saw way back when is a bit different than the one I have listed here as it had the large pad on the back. The one I'm looking at doesn't have that and will not deter me from a purchase. All it's going to take is for my finger to slip...just a little.

Yup. Those are beautiful guitars. I would love to have one but I'm not paying that much for one. I don't want it THAT bad.

I do have my finger taped down for the moment and I never buy something like what this cost without a lot of thinking hard on it. Even at that, it is always the aftermath, after the purchase where the real question(s) are answered. Remorse is the biggest concern at this point. I think its a bad thing if you buy something only to send it back because of this kind of guilt. This has never happened to me yet. I've waited long enough, almost 60 years to pull the trigger on this one. I've saved for this kind of eventuality. It means more to me than the cost to this point. Thinking about what I've lived through and seen over all these years. This is definitely one of those bucket list moments. Back then, I didn't have the thousand bucks they wanted for one in the mid '60's. For what it cost now is not a factor except for the fact that it's money I'm not used to spending all at once. That's the biggest stall at the moment. What will happen next will probably surprise me.

Who was it back at the FDP that had a White Falcon? I wanna say it was Papaya King. It did temporarily cause a GAS attack and would probably be on the list of manic spending if I ever won the lotto. I bought a Gretsch 5420TG in Cadillac Green with my "gift card" from the Gov at the beginning of the "thing". It's a beautiful guitar and plays great but for some reason rarely gets played. I like the "idea" of a Gretsch but maybe that's all that it is.

Never die wondering. We are all getting older, the clock doesn't stop ticking. If you can afford it, or even if you cant, get it. Then you will know. If you need the money or if you don't like it you can always sell it. Life is short, enjoy it while you can. ( and tell us about it ! ) I play in a group with a bloke, older than me, who says the same sort of thing "If you want it, buy it. You can always sell it. It's not a big issue" HTH

Not my first rodeo with a Gretsch. I have a 6119HT'62 and a 6128TCG in Cadillac Green. Also had a 6120 Nashville but, sold it which I've always regretted. I think the White Falcon would make up for that mistake in spades. JUST. NEED. TO. PUSH... THE BUUUTTTONNN!

It's a done deal. White Falcon on order. Pics will follow. I pushed the button and no sign of any kind of emotional reaction was felt. I did not opt for the fancy 300 dollar set up that was done on my SG (was worth it, by the way). White Falcon made in Japan. If a proper set up can't be achieved between the Terada Factory and Sweetwater, it'll get bounced back. I don't expect any problems. Should be here Tuesday or Wednesday. Oh,>

Good for you! I remember my Dad, who had plenty of money but was a child of the depression, on the fence over buying a new set of clubs. I asked him "do you want them" and "can you afford them ?" He relented and got them. At my advanced age, I find myself asking the same questions and loosening up the spending. Hey, the kids don't have to get it all!

That is a great guitar. I bought the same one about a year ago and do not regret it for an instant. They sound great, you will love it.

Did you get a discount for the scratch on the lower bout of the backside?
Hah! Made you look😄
Enjoy the beautiful guitar, I'm sure it's the pinnacle of Gretchy goodness.

Awesome! I've wanted a White Falcon ever since I was binge watching Kids in the Hall back in the day. The theme was a sort of hipster surf/rock group called Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet, a song called "Having an Average Weeekend". I'm not sure if that is what he is playing (he's pictured with various Gretsches over time) but the White Falcon for some reason is what I most associated with that tone. It is just a big sound that is bright and deep and everything all at once. It blew my teenage mind that thought you had to choose between bright Fenders and dark Gibsons. This was several years before Fender picked up Gretsch, and they were still a pretty well kept secret.
If I had a guitar bucket list, the White Falcon would be on there.

Word is I'll have it by this Thursday. A little disappointing since my guy at Sweetwater said I'd have it by Tuesday. No big deal. I'm guessing Wednesday. Should have started a 'pool'.

After letting the guitar acclimate I know how that'd go if it were me.
Amp on "loud", E chord, Krrrrang, wobble-wobble!

A photo? Here you go. Ok, it's one of the boxes but, in this box is either a beautiful, white, Gretsch Falcon or...a pile of junk. In the mean time, it needs acclamation. However, in also the mean time, here's the real prize.

I always loved the idea of a big bodied guitar. Back when I was first getting into bands like Little Charlie and the Nightcats and we started playing some of that stuff I decided I needed a big ol' hollow body. I went cheap and bought an Agile Cool Cat and did some mods. It was a really decent guitar but the first time I played out with it, Holy bejesus, I felt like a guitarron player in a Mariachi band. It definitely takes some getting used to.
That's a beautiful guitar LVF, through and through.

This guitar has always had the CSN song 'Guinnevere'(I think this name has only one 'n' in it but, that's how it's spelled on the album ) coming out of it ever since that song was new. Going by bad memory, I believe Stills played a White Falcon on that song. Anyway, that's how I remember it and I'm stickin' to it. I will now learn the song 'Guinnevere' on this guitar as I thought I would if I ever got this guitar. The fit and finish of this axe is second to none as far as I can tell to this point. It was built in Japan and that's probably all I needed to say about that. But, then, y'all new that anyway.

I remember a guy in 5th grade played one at a school talent show. He was quite good. I would love to have a 6120 Nashville like you had. I remember back in the mid 1970’s not many wanted a Gretsch and they were found for around $600-$700 US Dollars. I wish I had of bought one but that was a lot of money for a 22 year old at the time. If only I knew what I know now!

After playing this one, it's at a different level in my mind. The 6120TM was nice but, this one is just wow. I'm sorry I had to wait so long to experience this guitar. Without question, it's a keeper.

What TV Jones pickups does it have? I don't know what they do for Filtertron P/U's. I didn't special order them they simply come with this guitar but, it's still an interesting question and I'll see if I can come up with something. PS: They might be these: Custom TV Classic Set Orange Sparkle. I've asked TV Jones about this answer forth coming...maybe.
