It finally happened. I has Covid. Pretty sure I came down with it Monday. Tues. and Weds. were miserable. Went to the walk-in clinic today as I need to fly Monday.
They confirmed I has it. Prescribed me two different cough medicines. I should be at my 5 days tomorrrow or Sunday. And I am feeling better than a couple days ago. So I’ll likely mask up and travel Monday.

I think it's inevitable. As a newcomer this far into the thing, how would you compare your experience to other bouts?
Get well Leftee.

Yeah: we got it for the first time too, a couple weeks ago. The wife came down with it about 3-4 days after I did. It hit her harder than it did me and also lasted longer. I was miserable for a couple days and then started to recover. After that, I was just more tired than usual for a few more days. I've tested negative twice during that past week and a half.
Take care of yourself: plenty of rest and fluids (not that I have any medical expertise).
Hope you're back to normal soon.

This is my first rodeo. Never had it before.
True story - never had the swab up the nose until about 3 weeks ago when I administered a home test (negative). Today was my first ever health care professional-administered test. And it was positive. 🤣
🏆
I'm a little sad my streak is broken.
Thanks for the well-wishes, all! Tues. and Weds. were pretty miserable. It felt like my typical upper respiratory thing, but some extra little extra spin on the ball. I was a bit wheezy those days. The cough is rough and not all that productive. I copped a fever too, which is something that never happens with my typical gunk. The nasal congestion has been formidable, although it is a bit better today. I still have my sense of taste. The NP said my Uvula is quite swollen. Actually, I think the back of my mouth is, in general. I actually bit the back of my tongue, yesterday, on the right side. I've never done ThAt before. All in all she seemed to think that I had a pretty mild case, comparatively speaking. I guess she's a lot worse recently.

My barometer for how severe things were was my now ex-daughter in law who is an occupational therapist in a local hospital. Early on, beds full and people on respirators. Haven't heard those reports in quite a while. When I got it I had the version with loss of taste and smell. That sucked.

So… this is weird.
I just went through a wicked sneezing jag. I don’t think I’ve ever sneezed so much in such a short period ever in my life.
And now I can’t smell or taste anything.

We’re partakers of strong black licorice. So I just tried a piece.
Nope! Nada!

Hate to hear that. Hopefully you’ll be on the mend soon. I had my 3rd bout just before Christmas.

I got it early last month. The first 10 days were rough. Coughed so hard I was on my hands and knees a couple times.
It lingered all month. I was very tired, no energy, slept a lot.
Hang in there, Leftee.

That sudden onset of smell/taste loss is bizarre. I think mine may have been an overnight thing, but lasted for a couple of weeks. I have had the loss of smell and taste with other viral infections several times going back to childhood, but those only lasted a couple of days. It's a disconcerting experience but hopefully you'll recover quickly Leftee.

None of you has mentioned if you had received any of the COVID inoculations. Locally, some of my friends had it before the shots were offered and it was a real azz-kicker for them when infected. A couple people ended up with a week’s stay in the hospital. Since then, those who have had the virus tell me that it’s effect was greatly reduced as a result of getting the shots.

I got the original vaccines and every annual one since.
The other thing I’ve noticed is itchy eyes. I don’t have pinkeye and they’re not *that* itchy.
The symptoms are abating slowly. The fatigue is there, but I’ve had worse. The congestion comes and goes. It ranges from severe to absolutely none.
This is definitely different from anything else I’ve experienced. So now I’m pretty sure I’ve not had it before.
The “Licorice Test” was freaky. It’s such a strong flavor. 😳😂

Since then, those who have had the virus tell me that it’s effect was greatly reduced as a result of getting the shots. I initially spent 11 days in the hospital but never got the jab afterward, despite pressure from my doc. I've had Covid a few times since but it's been mild. The one thing that's recurring as a rebound symptom is the Rona Brainfog, which typically lasts for a few days to a week.

I got the first 2 shots early on and elected not to get any that followed. I got covid Xmas day 2021. The first day body aches were quite bad, I don't recall much respiratory involvement. The prolonged loss of smell and taste was the weirdest experience for me. I thought I got it again the following February but both my wife and I tested negative. Whatever that was kicked our butts really good.

This has made my Arthritis worse. I assume that’s temporary.
And there is some brain fog. I had some pretty cool dreams last night. Not my usual fare.

Eric, be sure to keep an eye on you oxygen level. Mine would dip into the 70's. Then again, I'd developed double pneumonia.
How's your breathing?

Breathing was rough Tues. and Weds. By the time I went to the walk-in, yesterday, my O2 sat was 97-98.

Not yet. I will tomorrow. I’m leaning in to travel, at this juncture. I also called both gentlemen I will be traveling with, yesterday, to let them know. Neither were concerned. So it’s really up to me.
At the latest, my 5 days is up tomorrow. I will test myself tomorrow evening, as well.

At the latest, my 5 days is up tomorrow. I will test myself tomorrow evening, as well. It's curious that it used to be 10 days. Did the virus mutate to be contagious for a shorter period? Funny story... When I was in the hospital, I was in a 'fishbowl' room with a glass front and was completely isolated. When someone came in, they had to don a tyvek suit, rubber gloves, and a facemask. On the 10th day, two nurses burst into my room with nothing but N95 masks and shouted, "Congratulations! You're no longer contagious." The whole scene was surreal. Does that mean the day before I was deadly contagious, and then overnight there was little to worry about?

Current isolation period is 5 days and they’re reviewing data on 3 days.
Were several strains in these days. It’s a confluence of factors that determine these things.
