I have a Musikraft Strat neck and based on it's quality I'd use them again. In fact I've been pondering a Tele neck and find their options are superior to Warmoth. No upcharges for custom neck carves and a larger variety. I'm kinda intrigued by their "reclaimed Coney Island boardwalk" fretboard material.
I do know one thing, my love affair with vintage spec heel adjustment truss rods is over, lol. From here on out, headstock truss rod access only.
Edit to add: the Tele neck I'm kicking around has a $70 upcharge at Warmoth for radius and neck carve.

You're going to love that thing.
I haven't encountered a Musikraft neck yet, but Boogie Bodies/Warmoth and their derivatives all tend to follow a pattern of heavier steel on the truss rods, thicker pegheads, thicker fingerboards and so forth, which all make for a beefier neck and a really good modern/fusion Super Strat tone, but also keep them from having much vintage vibe or jangle to them. My understanding is that Musikraft bucks that trend a bit. I could be completely wrong on that.

I just measured the headstock thickness on my Musikraft Strat neck vs my Warmoth Strat neck. Virtually identical and the miniscule fraction is probably the difference in finish.
(0.5855" vs 0.5835")

Interesting. Both are thicker than Fender, which is why tuners always seem to sit lower down on the face of the peghead on replacement necks. My calipers and micrometers are all at the shop right now I'm at home, but the MIM neck sitting next to me reads a half inch exactly on my ruler.

I got an $80 refund from Musikraft yesterday. Apparently I had chosen the Roasted Maple option twice on the order form? I think I may have ordered that option for the shaft wood and also for the fingerboard. I guess with a maple neck selecting that for the fingerboard isn't necessary. COOL!!

I was playing around with Musikraft's order template and got confused by that one too. I think the $80 roasting option you selected is only if you choose rock maple and then want it roasted. Kind of confusing.
Man I'm tempted to build a Tele neck with them.

I just received another email with an explanation.
"Thank you for your order. When you chose the Shaft Wood: Roasted Flame Maple 3A *Special* ($150.00)
The roasting has already been applied to the wood.
You did not need to also add the Roasting Option +80
It was a duplicate of the roasting option. That is the reason for the refund to your paypal account.
Our current production schedule is approximately 12-14 weeks for the build."

I ordered the neck on May 8th and still haven't gotten it. I hope it shows up soon. This could be a game changer for me. I have always been primarily a Gibson player but if this neck really fits me well it could make the Strat my favorite guitar. I have a Semour Duncan Custom Custom humbucker in the neck position. To me, the best sounds on a Strat are from the neck pickup. Having a humbucker at the bridge and a Texas Special at the neck is a great combination so if I can get used to the wider neck the Strat could become my favorite guitar.

Wow, that's a long lead time! Have they given updates at all? Like, it got destroyed right before finish and had to be remade or something?

I've put the brakes on any future neck builds but holy moly that's a long time to wait and would have me rethinking using them at this point. They still have job postings listed on their site from earlier this year, so maybe it's a staffing issue.

Wow, that's a long lead time! Have they given updates at all? Like, it got destroyed right before finish and had to be remade or something? I have gotten 2 updates. The first was when they picked out the wood and the second was when it went to the CNC shop but the last one was on June 14th. That message said 12 to 14 weeks. I don't know if that was from the order date or from the update-date. If it was from the order date then it is past due by a couple weeks. That seems like a long time to me as well. I would like to have it but it's not like I need it for something I have a deadline on. Still, another update would be nice. I sent them a message from the "Contact us" link on their website. I hate doing that because I have been in their shoes. When giving updates you are not working and that slows everyone's job down. Still.......16 weeks?

That is bizarre. My guess is they're contracting out the finishing and that is where the log jam is. Especially if it hit the CNC over two months ago, that just doesn't make sense. It just doesn't take that long to make a neck. If a restaurant takes an hour to get a hamburger out to you, it isn't because it spent an hour on the grill (hopefully), but because they had other orders. Similarly it should've taken a max of two weeks after the CNC to get through the line for back shaping and fretting (not sure how long the roasting takes). The neck was likely built long ago and it has been sitting in queue for whoever is doing the finishing.

I received a reply to my inquiry. All they said is that they are running a bit behind on this one. They will send it out in the next 5 to 7 days.

Sounds like Fender's Custom Shop: their advertized build times are frequently four or five times longer. Yeeesh.

I received another update from Musikraft yesterday saying the neck was in the Fretting Department. Sounds like it's moving along the line finally.

Sounds like an "ooopsie" on their part, and it was sitting in limbo until someone read the email and figured out what was going on. If it wasn't even in fretting and they are getting it out in 5-7 days it sounds like they're putting a rush on it. Good on them for catching it and pushing it through, though.

I got another update last night. It said "now in sanding department." It's moving right along. I don't know if it still has to be finished or if it already has been and this is the final step.

I got another update last night. It said "now in sanding department." It's moving right along. I don't know if it still has to be finished or if it already has been and this is the final step. Usually order of operations is something like glue up - CNC - fret slots - inlay/binding/etc. - radius sanding - back shaping (mostly done on a CNC, finely tuned by hand) - fretting - nut, tuner reaming, etc - finish - out the door (skipping a few things) so I would assume "sanding" means finish sanding/buffing. I suppose it is possible they put the frets in before the back shaping/sanding, but that would be a bit weird.

I have a question. Should I wait for a week or two before I take my new neck to my repair guy to have him install it and set up the guitar? Musikraft is in New Jersey and I'm in Tennessee. I looked at the weather stats this morning and the humidity here was about 10% higher than NJ. They were at 86% and we were at 96%. That's not a huge difference.

I got my neck today. That flame roasted maple finish is REEL PURDEEE. I'm glad I opted for the 1-3/4" nut width instead of the 1-7/8". It feels really wide. I think I'm going to like it.
