Wifey and I were watching tv. She said something funny and we both cracked up. She went into the kitchen to put some dishes away. Came back and said she wasn’t feeling well at all. Cold sweats , nausea , tightness in chest. Crap got real really fast. Called 911 and the paramedics came to take her vitals . EKG wasn’t too bad they said , but blood pressure was high and heart rate was 52-55. They took her to the hospital . Did some blood tests ,another ekg and a cat scan.
Cardiologist said according from the ekg it looked like she had a heart attack . He scheduled a heart cath and said if it was one blockage he would put it in then . If there was more blockage , open heart surgery would be the next step. Came out and found 1 blockage they put a stent in . Apparently her heart was only pumping 40 percent. He expects a full recovery and as they wheeled her into the heart wing ,her heart rate was up to about 65-68.
im wiped out. Who would ever thought this would happen? There weren’t any signs or problems . She’s only 65 and we are really lucky . Time to take things like this more seriously.

Prayers for her full recovery.
Reminds me of when I had my heart attack, except mine was in the wee hours of the morning. 21 years ago. Hey y'all, if you have chest pain and feel like crap, either call 911 or go the the ER. Immediately!
Take good care of her, budg.

I hope everything works out well for you both.
I'm not a doctor, but my understanding is that after a stent she should be "better than new"
My dad had a quadruple heart bypass, and lived another 25-30 years afterwards.
Best wishes.

It's shocking how fast one's perspective on life can turn and how unexpectedly.

Sounds like she dodged "the big one".
Happy for the both of you and looking forward to up-coming reports of her recovery.
Hang in there. Very stressful when this stuff strikes so close to home. Take good care of yourself so you can continue to take good care of her!

Thanks. I was surprised at the response time of the EMTs. Roughly 3 minutes. That was quick .

I was surprised at the response time of the EMTs. Roughly 3 minutes. That is great response time. It's more like 15 to 20 min where I am.

I had quadruple bypass in July last year after having some chest pains.
They really have this stuff sorted out, I was only in the hospital 3 days and off work 4 weeks.
Hope all works out well for your wife!

I'm a member of the stent club.
I'm happy it was just a warning shot across the bow.... that's what the stent guy said to me. I bet worry and fear were tied for first when it happened. Hope all gets back to normal soon.

I had quadruple bypass in July last year after having some chest pains. They really have this stuff sorted out, I was only in the hospital 3 days and off work 4 weeks. Hope all works out well for your wife! They really have made huge gains in bypass surgery. When I had my 1st one in 1996, they told me the success rate was 75%. So. A 25% chance of not surviving the surgery. My last one in 2008 the success rate had increased to 95%. It’s 2021 and I’m betting they have made gains in the past 13 years. Not to mention stent technology, medications, etc.
