I have gotten to the point where I don't even want to turn it on. If my wife weren't such a TV glutton I probably wouldn't even own one. I certainly wouldn't be paying for satellite or cable TV. Just sayin.

I'll watch some old reruns of sitcoms that were done before the current Hollywood formulas were mandated. Current TV sitcoms are so bad I'm embarrassed for the actors. Walton Goggins, I'm talking to you.

My TV stays off until 5:00 PM. Then I navigate through Prime, Hulu, Netflix, etc to find exactly what I want to see: mainly movies and documentaries. It's kinda like Youtube; lots of junk, but if you sift through the garbage, there is some interesting stuff there.

I would never turn a tv on if i were by myself. my wife, OTOH is addicted to it... i think it's more background noise for her... she doesn't really watch it, just has it on.
i watch some streaming stuff occasionally.
i have binge watched old programs that i saw my parents watching when i was little... i watched all the episodes of Combat and Twelve O'Clock High... i've seen parts of Rat Patrol and Have Gun Will Travel... the old Bat Masterson and Wyatt Earp, Wells Fargo... i was just barely old enough to remember these and some were even in reruns then. oh yah, Cisco Kid... too.
today's television doesn't interest me

All of the new series are so politically correct that I can't stand them. And the cheap emotionalism! Damn, every character has some weepy life drama stuff going on all of the time.

Yeah TV is getting really pathetic. We have been enjoying rerun of 8 seasons of Frasier. Hilarious.

You anti-TV guys are missing "Schitt's Creek."
Best thing I've watched in a long time. LOL funny.

I am right there with you. My wife and I have decided to forego cable/satellite at our new Texas home. We will just stream programming. When decent internet becomes available at the Idaho cabin I’ll do the same there. I can’t even enjoy sports anymore with all the PC BS. About 95% of our viewing consists of old movies and TV programs anyway. We are officially “out of date” and I couldn’t care less.

This past week, I decided I should swear off cop shows for this year. There are a few I used to like.
Being a scriptwriter for the 2020-21 season must be a tough, demanding job.

I didn't own a TV from 1966-1976.
Don't feel like that did me any irreparable` damage.
I watch a fair amount now, mostly NetFlix, Amazon, local news, MLB and re-runs of 1960s TV shows. I can't relate to hardly any of the "sitcoms" made during the last 40 years or so and have never watched a single episode of most of them.
Often, when the TV is on, it just serves as background noise when I'm doing something else. Out in the shop, I listen to music.

I hear ya. These days we watch regular tv for the news and live sports. In the evening it’s Netflix or Prime. We’ll either watch a movie or tv show . Right now we’re watch Criminal Minds which I never watched when it was on tv.

Here, I'll make it easy. The hero is a kick-ass female (KAF). Her sidekicks are gay or lesbian or POCs. The bad guy is straight white male. The plot involves racism and predatory capitalism, usually with environmental damage thrown in for flavor. There will be highly unrealistic fight scenes where petit attractive KAF lays waste to assorted bad guys, while still looking hot. There will be gun handling to make you cringe and dialog where you are embarrassed for the actor having to say the line. One of the sidekicks will have an emotional issue that will result in hand-holding and tears and renewed calls for equality and inclusiveness. Please mail me the check!

We've watched Schitt's Creek through, mostly (very) funny but got weaker toward the end of the series (IMO).
I don't know how much it factors in that it is a Canadian series. Speaking of which, Letterkenny. Funny stuff.

You did miss the straight white male who is trigger happy and the KAF has to continuously put him in his place.

Seems like the last two straight white male villains I saw had last names beginning with o-apostrophe.

I just watched Ozzy and Jack's Detour where a mariachi band covered Paranoid for Ozzy. That right there justifies paying for the other 3742 channels that I don't watch.

Most people who don’t watch TV still have one. Mines on all the time, but I rarely watch. The good thing about this is I can re-watch a series 5 or 6 times before I know what is going to happen next.

I think the long-term goal is to slowly degrade the content to the point where we only pay attention to the commercials and hit the "mute" button when the programming comes back on.
You laugh, but...

Being a scriptwriter for the 2020-21 season must be a tough, demanding job. As far as I can tell, it involves the main characters donning masks occasionally and there’s a screen between the suspect and the law enforcement character in the interrogation room. That’s my take from the last few NCIS episodes. +1 on Schitt’s Creek.

I have NEVER PAID A DIME FOR CABLE OR ANY OTHER PAY TV FORMAT and I never will. I still have an antenna on a forty foot tower (with a rotor) that pulls in stations from a four state area. If I get bored with the movies, sports, or other offerings I watch one of the thousands of movies or TV series I have in my personal library.

I'm right there with you. Some 110 pound, pretty, skinny, woman, gets repeatedly knocked down from getting punched in the face by some 6 foot tall 200-plus pound guy and she gets back up every time and ends up knocking him out. YEAH RIGHT!! She'd be lucky if all the bones in her face were still intact after her first knock-down. The guy is bloodied and she doesn't have a mark on her. I don't care how much martial arts training she has. That's a crock and an example of how far they will push the boundaries. I am a firm believer that NONE of the writers, networks, or advertisers, give a crap about all that stuff. It's all about ratings and selling product.

I'm beginning to think that show about the coyote chasing after the roadrunner is pure fiction. A coyote doesn't have thumbs, so how can he write checks or use a credit card to get all that ACME equipment?

We tend to watch more on PBS. Gave up on major networks years ago except for sports.
I hear folks complain about cable/internet costs. These folks have 5 or more TVs with boxes attached, subscribe to all the premium stuff and need blazing fast internet connection because their wifi runs 17 devices. Oh well, ever think of cutting back to just one screen and one box? Nooooop. Well heck, there you are.
