The C4 ZR-1 is super cool, I too would love to own one. In addition to Mercury Marine doing the engine, I think Lotus helped tune the suspension or something. Lotus actually designed the motor I believe; Mercury Marine did it as GM couldn’t build it. Or so goes Internet lore at least. My guess would be GM could've built it, but the number of units needed to produce was simply far too low to even tool up for. Lotus designing at least the head would make sense as at that time they were one of the few doing 4 valve heads, my 1992 Dodge Daytona IROC RT had a 224 HP 2.2 4 cylinder turbo motor with yes...a 4 valve per cylinder Lotus designed head. It easily would beat my friends 1992 Mustang GT 225 HP 5.0. We raced constantly and he never got me.

UPDATE! The dealer called today and said to come in and place the order. That is a huge step forward in this process. I want to find out if I can make the call between a ‘22 Z51 convertible or a ‘23 Z06. I’m getting a bit “long in the tooth” to take a car on the track, but that double overhead cam Z06 engine sounds like a car my son would love to inherit.

Good luck, Laker! I was always slightly annoyed in the late 70's or 80's when the pre-release press would says something like, "The GM engineers have rebuilt this newest Corvette from the ground up and focused on a 'leaner' design" or some such thing and the new Vette would look "slightly different", yet somehow the same. I felt like the C7 was the first real 'breakout' design, and made me think about buying one down the road! The C8 is a totally new ballgame, and long overdue on moving the engine.

Should be amazing.

I got my early Christmas present when the dealer called yesterday to tell me my order has been entered in production. He said the car that was ordered came in recently and took about four months from order to receiving. If that holds true it works out fine with delivery around the middle of April or so. I like that!

Sweet!
Is the dealer adding any markups?
I've read a bunch of guys on the forums settled on a price, but when their car finally came in, the dealer wouldn't honor the original price, adding 10K or more.
I hope they honor it, a lot of the Chevy dealers are snakes.

Corvette, the Harley of cars. I don't get it. I’m not next in line to own one but I enjoy the fact that someone gets to own something they enjoy. Particularly in this day and age.

I hope they honor it, a lot of the Chevy dealers are snakes. I tried to purchase my car from the son of the dealer that sold me my first Corvette back in 1965, but the company he is working for is adding $30,000 to msrp. A no deal for me. My local dealer is selling me the car at msrp and is only a couple of blocks from my home with several of my good friends having been part of their team over the years. I never bought a Vette from them in the past because the previous owner would never give a good deal on anything I wanted to purchase so I ended up buying four new Sevilles (they’re Cad, Chev, and GMC) over the years from other dealers. The previous owner sold his business last year. Jefe (as usual) seems to downplay the American stuff that is oh, so much fun to drive/ride. A good friend recently purchased a Ferrari Giallo (yellow) 360 Modena and it is a nice looking/sounding automobile, but I can service a Corvette for about 1/5 what he pays to service that Ferrari. By the way, if I want a 2023 Z06, the local dealer is doing $10,000 over msrp…I passed on that. I’d love that flat plane V8, but I’m past my days of serious track time with a Vette.

A good friend recently purchased a Ferrari Giallo (yellow) 360 Modena and it is a nice looking/sounding automobile, but I can service a Corvette for about 1/5 what he pays to service that Ferrari. Meh, not only price and cost of maintenance, but a stock C7 with some decent tires and a good driver will out accelerate and out handle the 360. They were pretty unspectacular, except for possibly the cache of having the prancing horse emblem. Pretty much any Ferrari after the 355 elicits yawns from me, YMMV. Amazing machines, but in the looks department it appears they ran out of ideas, they all look very similar and boring. I'm excited for you! Keep us updated.

it still would have been fun to drive with the paddles. My 2017 Challenger came with paddles for the 8-speed autostick transmission. I tried 'em a few times in the first month I had the car, and then I switched 'em off because they're really not anything special. They're more of a gimmick, I think, for street driving. You cannot out-shift the automatic in a drag race anyway because it keeps the engine in the power band sweet spot.

When I started this I was told to “just look at Kelly blue/black book and what they show is what you’ll get”. I’ll be happy with the numbers I got, but with a 15,000 mile, ceramic finished, 1SC car that window stickered in the 90K+ range we’ll see what happens at delivery.

Enjoy it, nice color too. My late pop had a few over the yrs. A friend had one and I couldn't believe we fit his drum kit, my Twin Reverb and my guitar in that tiny back.

I have a 2023 on order. Price? I’m ashamed to say, but it’s just shy of 6 figures. I don’t care. I promised myself long ago that a vette would be my retirement present. And, guess who retired this year?

A new Corvette is possibly back on the menu for me. I’m building a house in Central Texas, and my Miata will be a little small down there plus my shifting ankle has been getting worse.

And, guess who retired this year? I did the Z51 performance package with Z51 performance suspension and magnetic selective ride control, front lift, and 3LT interior so I’m real familiar with the 6 figure stuff. At at 75 yo it will be the last Corvette I buy, so I thought I’d do a car I can track if I want to but with creature comforts up the wazoo. It’s kind of neat that it hit the dealer in February. I purchased my first, a 340 hp ‘62, in February of ‘65. I tried to buy this car from the son of my original dealer, but the company he works for is charging 30K over msrp. No deal for me! If you’re doing a ‘23 why not go for a Z06? That flat plane engine is a real sweetheart and I probably would have shot for that but my order was in the works before the Z06 was announced. I’m still really happy with the car I have.

I like the matching body color accents, not a lot a people opt for those, I think it looks really good.
Congrats!

Great color too.
I really haven't seen a color that doesn't look good on the C8, even that weird pale yellow that I'd normally hate looks good.
