it could be a bit until I get to order one. After searching around the state I managed to finally find a dealer that isn’t adding 30% to MSRP pricing and I’m next in line on the allocation. One dealer told me they had nine people already on the waiting list. Wowzer! After being a loyal Corvette owner/driver for 58 years I never thought I’d have to pray to purchase a new car. At least I am next in line if an allocation becomes available.

I saw one for sale somewhere for $120k.
I thought they were supposed to start at $65k.
Something ain't right.

This is the first Corvette I could see myself owning. Not likely to happen, though…

Our local Chevrolet dealer, in West Springfield, MA, will not charge over MSRP if you order the vehicle with them. However if you decline delivery and then change your mind and decide to complete the purchase, or if it goes into their inventory and someone comes in off the street to buy it, then they add 30K to the price.

I got a discount for ordering my F-150....but who knows when I'll get it.
The new vettes are the first ones in ages that I would consider buying, but I already have my fun car.

I dunno...the designers tried a little bit too hard to make it look like a Lambo. It does not look like an American car.
A pal and fellow Moe's2 denizen just took delivery of his new F150 (loaded). He ordered it in February. The supply far is outstripped by demand. AND they gave him a substantial amount over and above their initial offer on is trade-in. The used car market is really hot right now due to the dearth of new-production vehicles.

The used car market is really hot right now due to the dearth of new-production vehicles. Yeah, I got a really good trade in offer too. They told me a VIN was generated and it was scheduled for build "mid August" and that, if that happened, I'd get it late august or early Sept. I'm not gonna expect it until they tell me it is in transit. Another dealer said ordering would probably take until November, so I'm kinda expecting that timeline. Mine isn't loaded, but very nicely equipped: 3.5L turbo 6, Lariat package, upgraded sound system (Bang and Olufson "unleashed"), high end accessory package with adaptive cruise and accident avoidance features, plus the main reason I ordered: the larger power fold, power telescoping towing mirrors. I'll be towing my 7,000 lb boat and I've learned not to skimp on mirrors for a tow vehicle. It's rated to tow 11,400 lbs. I was skeptical but my co-worker has the same engine and he said it'll do everything I ask of it. He tows a 27' camping trailer.

I was able to return my wife’s 3 year old Nissan Sentra (leased) with 19,000 miles on it, they waived the lease termination fee AND ignored probably a $1,000 parking lot dent received 6 weeks before it was to go back (of course). These are not unusual when you stick with the company, but we did NOT lease another Nissan. The dealership wanted it back so badly they were willing to do all of that just to have a low mileage car in their used inventory. Credit goes to my lease broker, who negotiated the above. He swears he did not pay the fees for me out of his end, he got them waived. Makes no difference to me.

Was at a friend’s art gallery open house last Friday and one of the guests was a finance guy at the local Toyota dealership. We were talking about chip shortage, etc and he mentioned that he would give me greater trade in value on my out of warranty 2019 Tacoma with 35k miles than I paid brand new.
Seems weird that you can drive a vehicle and go off-roading etc for 3 years and it be an appreciating asset, not accounting for inflation of course…

They look really good, I do like them, but the no manual option is a deal breaker for me. I really enjoy my 2016 Stingray. My C7 is likely the last Vette I'll own, unless I upgrade to a 2019 Grand Sport or Z06. (which is HIGHLY likely, lol)

At the age I am I think my track days are done so no need for a Z06 or ZR1 (if that is again offered).

Of the eight Corvettes I’ve owned going back to a ‘62 I had one automatic Vette, a ‘79, because that was the only transmission offered at that time. I haven’t driven one, but I’m told by people who track them, that the paddle-shift cars out perform the manual gear box cars. As I said earlier, at the age I am it doesn’t really matter too much any more. I just sold my ‘66 4 spd car and the ‘13 427 in the garage is a 6 spd so the paddle shift setup might be a fun change.

I'm sure the paddle shift with dual clutch autos outperform a manual, but I've had the good fortune to have track time in a lot of different cars, along with professional training, and there's little in the world of driving more satisfying that driving a fun car with a manual tranny. No clutch, no heal-toe, no throttle blip on downshifts?.....no fun. That's just the reality for me. That's why I have my Z3...I can get that fix in a car that handles well and, with 225hp, has a very nice power/weight ratio. Oh, and with less than 6,000 miles on it, it only cost me $6k. Drop the top, hit a nice twisty road and let the fun begin.

I'm not paid to race, so the fact that an automatic transmission is faster than me doesn't really make a difference. Paying a professional driver to take me around the track would also be faster than my driving it, but I don't quite see that as being as fun.

I think the C8 looks fantastic in the Ceramic Matrix Grey, or whatever it's called exactly. Honestly, it looks good in just about every color.

When I was at risk for losing my left foot a few years ago, I was resigned to selling my 6 speed Miata and buying one with an automatic. You know what? No big deal, it still would have been fun to drive with the paddles.

Well, my wife says no coupe, she would like another convertible. They both drive the same so it makes no difference to me. I’m thinking the Ron Fellows C8 Corvette driving school might be fun to do and maybe get the spark to get back into slalom/gymkhana events. My last track events were in the ‘70s.

Have to say I'm truly impressed with the performance of the new C8. However... Like the C7 before it, I find the rear end to look rather "toyish" to me. YMMV. My favorite Corvette would be a fully restored 1955 with the V-8 and manual tranny. I love that original body style the most. 6

My favorite year is '78. I love those body lines. Maybe it's because I graduated that year and the emotional ties are strong toward nostalgia.

My favorite was my ‘62, a 340hp hotrod that never lost a “stoplight” drag race. I thought about looking for a ‘62 restomod but the creature comforts are pretty non-existent in those early Vettes. The cars in the driveway include my buddy’s ‘57 Belair with a high hp 327. Here’s my ‘62.
