WOW great responses. What great group of posters.... If I could still drive distances, you all would make me want to see more of this great country. Somehow reading about the various states from my fellow posters is much more interesting than just reading about a state or area.... Gotta figure out how to my location in my signature...

Born and raised in Pittsburgh. I now live in the next county to the east.
Go Pirates! Hypothetically, of course.

Cleveland, Ohio. Go Browns! Please, just once, get to the Super Bowl before I die. 😊 Sincerely, A life-long Browns fan. I'm from Dayton, Ohio and have been a Browns fan my entire life. The hardest thing in sports has been being a Browns fan. It seems things are going to be better but you never know. Woof! Woof! Go Browns! I should note that I have lived in Colorado, Southern California, Las Vegas, Okinawa, Misawa Japan, and Michigan while in the Air Force. Moved back home to Ohio after all that. Grandkids will probably keep here for the duration.

I'm in south Louisiana, kinda in the center of East and West, a few miles north of the Gulf. Cajun country, the real deal tho.

I live on the coast about 40 miles south of Boston and 20 minutes from the Cape Cod Canal.
I have lived in South Carolina, Alaska, Texas, Maryland, New Hampshire, the Azores (Portugal), Utah, and now MA.
These days I barely leave the house.

During my military days I spent a lot of time in Opelousas, Ville Platte, and Lake Charles. In Lake Charles there was a great club called the Bamboo Club where we catch really great blues and R&B. Little Milton is one that pops into the memory.

I was born in Redding CA, and I've lived in Bellingham WA most of my life.
An hour and a half drive south, and I'm in Seattle, also Vancouver British Columbia is an hour north.

Staten Island, by way of Staten Island.
My parents’ house (the same one they have been in since 1974) from October 1976 to August 2001
An apartment 8 minutes away from there from August 2001 to January 2004.
My current house, 2 minutes from the apartment, since January 2004, minus 3 months (July-October 2013) when we renovated and moved out to another apartment (15 minutes from here, about 7 minutes further than my parents’ house).
As such, I’ve lived within a 15 minute radius my whole life.

I grew up in the UK, about 20 miles west of London. I lived just outside Oxford before I moved to the US in 1993. I've lived in the Austin area for over 25 years so it's home now. Although it is not what it was back then. So maybe that will change at some point. But I still like it here - mostly!

Lots of folks will tell you New Mexico is not in the USA...that it's a foreign country. Indeed, I once mailed a check to my Mom back east a good number of years ago, and the bank teller balked. Had to check with the bank manager to see if it was OK to cash a check from another country. LOL...this is the truth.

Had to check with the bank manager to see if it was OK to cash a check from another country. Here in the UK, Scottish high St banks print their own currency; it seems weird as equivalent English banks don't, rather all money is issued by the (government controlled) Bank of England. Whatever, after returning from trips to Scotland, it can be a hassle trying to use Scottish bank notes in England, a lot of shops won't accept them. Usually requires a trip to my local bank to get the Scottish notes swapped for regular Bank of England ones. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banknotes_of_ScotlandI'm in Stoke-on-Trent / North Staffordshire, it's a somewhat deprived, post-industrial poor relation to neighbouring counties of Cheshire, Shropshire, Derbyshire, even mid Staffordshire. These other areas have high tech industry, rolling farmland, national parks, whereas having lost coal mining, the Michelin type factory and most of the ceramics industry, here there's just telephone call centres, warehousing, an online gambling HQ, and nature taking back cleared / disused industrial sites. But it's home, I'm well rooted here!

I live in Northumberland: in England, but in sight of the Scottish border on a clear day. We can use those Scots bank notes without any problems. Our valley was once one of the bloodiest in the country, due to centuries of cross-border raiding, and also a centre for sword-making. Things calmed down in the 17th century. Long before that, the Romans had an outpost cavalry fort in the fields opposite my house, next to the River Rede. I sometimes go and sit in the fort and would be very surprised if I ever meet another person there. The Romans were in it for about 80 years, before pulling back to Hadrian's Wall. Nowadays, very little happens round here.

Though I’ve lived almost 2/3 of my life in Rhode Island, I still say I’m from the Puget Sound area, where I was raised, even though I was born in southern California.
Rhode Island is kind of like Puget Sound if it was shrunk, flattened, had the real ocean about 20 minutes away, and had much warmer water in the summer. And colder winters...and less rain....

I live in Tinley Park, IL (Southwest Chicagoland Suburb) but I will always be a proud Nebraskan at heart. I grew up in Mokena. My wife hails from Orland Park. Cool. I live about 6 blocks south of Andrew HS.
