My fellow Jammers. I am really fired up for this Jam. Fair warning, I am bringing my "A" game with me. If any Jammer has a song that you want me to play on, Post it ahead of time so I can prepare for it. I threw out five songs to give you "string guys" a head start with them. (Fair play.)
I have been called the "Human Metronome" by my friends and players that I have Jammed with in the past. That includes horn sections, keyboard players, and percussionists (besides you string guys); at my age there is not too much that can surprise me. (Mr. Peegoo can confirm that.) So bring it on.
PS: The "Many Voices in my Head" are really excited about jamming. I keep hearing a lot of different harmonies and melodies from them, however they often sing out of key. My Doctors prescribe medication for that problem! All is good; Jam on.

I'm quite sure that some of the songs you suggested will be played. Just my observation from being at many of the GA jams in the past, we don't usually follow a song list where people need to "sign up" to play on a song. It's a pretty loose format and personally, I prefer it that way. I like all the songs you suggested, btw. I once went to an FDP jam, drove several hours though a snowstorm, and I got to play on 3 songs....because I didn't "sign up" for the songs on the list. I will NEVER make that mistake again! Just come and have fun, be prepared to play, nobody will be judging you except for me, because I always listen to the bass player!

walshb 🦒 : Thank you my friend. When I originally started with the FDP (as a drummer) I had mixed emotions about the "Sign Up List" system(s). I eventually came around when I got involved in the pre-organizational aspect of the Jam event. Keep in mind the Jams I have been involved with (both playing at & planning/organization) involved a large number of players, multiple instrument skills, and a wide range of musical genres. I have played at jams where you had horn sections, multiple keyboards, percussion sections, a number of different vocalists, besides the "String Guys" I always joke about. Honestly, each individual event was an education for me, and a fantastic experience. I have followed this GA Jam for a while and always wanted to attend; an opportunity presented itself, so I made myself available for it. My impression so far, is that this Jam is more party oriented then others, (GREAT) I definitely need that right now. The reason I inquired about the song list or sign up system was, (past experience) has shown me that is what you have to deal with regarding other jams, and this is my first time attending this Jam. As you have probably figured out by now, I like to come prepared. My position: I am coming see some old friends and to make some new ones. So: I will leave it to you jammers to tell me when to get on stage, and when to get off stage (very important). I will take it from there; I love to "Free Style" & "Improvise" when playing, and I will attempt anything new. ( The many voices in my head all agree.)

I rarely know what I’m playing. Just trying to hit a proper note at an appropriate time.

FYI: I just found out a drummer friend of mine passed away from pancreatic cancer. I was able to fill in for him, last minute (May 1,2022) for a cancer benefit. How Ironic.
I now have more incentive then ever to play at this Jam. When it's my turn, they are going to have to pry the drum sticks from my cold, dead hands. God willing, I AM JAMMING IN GEORGIA!
See you all soon.

God willing, I AM JAMMING IN GEORGIA! YES! YOU ARE! See you all soon. Sorry to hear about your friend Grizbear. Glad you could sit in for him! Seriously! Be prepared to not have a care in the world and JUST have some fun! Going to be a lot of friends from my past that said they would be here? Plus some other FDP players! So, it should be a diverse Jam with a lot of moving parts and players lol! FUN!

zenland: I LOVE the songs you listed, no problem at all, keep them coming. I do apologize for not listing the "Key" of the songs I suggested; in my world of drumming, the only key I worry about is the "Drum Key". Which is a small "T" wrench used to adjust the tension rods on the drum for tuning. (I wasn't sure if you string guys were aware of that.) Just a reminder: In that there is no advance sign-up sheet; it is the responsibility of my fellow jammers to tell me which songs you want me to play on. I respectfully leave it to my fellow jammers to determine and set the tempo of the song. I will take it from there! It is also very important to make sure you tell me WHEN to get OFF the stage; otherwise I will stay there, waiting for the next song. (Another bad habit I developed.)

LOL on the Drum Key! No worries as they'll be called out when folks step up and you will definitely know Busta String is singing them! Once again! All Good! We would like you to play as much as you want so don't worry about hoggin some time!! We can handle that!

That's my que! Yes Sir, indeed I do. I will suggest five songs for consideration. I think they are simple to play musically, easy vocals, and really fun to play. From my limited experience with Mojo & Busta; I have no doubt this Georgia Jam crew can handle anything. (You guys are on your own for vocals, I don't sing) Johnny B. Good Keep Your Hands to Yourself Pretty Woman Glory Days Gimme' Three Steps I should warn you, I have an unwritten policy when attending any Jam. "I will "NOT" let a song be scratched from the list for lack of a drummer" (even if I have to play every song) (which at one Clamfest I did - Long story) Any song you want me to play, you got it. Even if I have to learn it then and there. Full disclosure: I have been in contact with our Host (Zenland); I am fully aware that your song list system is "Lay Back", no problem at all. So it is up to you guys to decide to put me in whenever you want to. I am not afraid to do any musical genre. I also have enough experience from other different past Jams to know that you string players have no intention of turning down your amps; (especially outdoors) so I am bringing my "Out-Door Cymbals" (The BIG guns) to compensate. All is good; Jam On! Man, you crack me up!! I wish I could be there to meet everyone. I'm just glad it's happening.

Vibroluxer: I fully agree with you. I'm glad it's happening too. Speaking seriously from my own personal experience, way too many of these jams have been short lived, and have "Crashed & Burned" for any number of reasons. I take the position that we as musicians have to participate and support these events whenever and wherever possible. Because the frequency of these events won't last forever; time has taught me that. As I have mentioned before; I take the position that when I attend one of these events, I am going to see some old friends and to make some new ones. In all honesty, I have never been disappointed.

zenland: While preparing, and perusing the songs you posted; I came up with some additional ideas. (Obviously from past experience; original ideas are not one of my strong points.) While "Magic Carpet Ride" by Stepenwolf is a definite contender; I would like to also recommend "Born to be Wild". I think it's very doable, and another good option. Also, "Burning Down the House" by The Talking Heads brought to mind "Take me to the River". HOWEVER! I recommend doing the live version. (with the faster tempo) Look it up on you-tube; it also allows more opportunities for instrumental improvisation for all. I would also like to recommend a medley of "Sweet Home Alabama" & "Werewolves of London". I have done this song medley at other Jams with great success. The "Song Key" is the same, the chord progressions are the same, and the two tempos & rhythm are compatible. It's a simple combination; I will leave it to you "String Guys" to work out the arrangement and details. It's also a fun song.

I’m looking forward to meeting you Grizbear. It’s always a blast. I started joining in when Rick aka dolomite was fronting the Delray Beach jams. I’ve considered attending one of the jams you guy throw down, I’ve got to meet up with that Peegoo dude, Deep made it to one of the Delray jam, all the way from the foothills of the Himalayans. I’ve talked to Geno and shipped junk back and forth but so far never hooked up. Now he goes and gets a job, damn. I’m going to have to crash a jam he can make it to.

hushnel:Same here my fellow jammer. I'm looking forward to meeting you also, and everybody else, and jamming. I've done a couple of different Jams with Peegoo (AKA Geno) and always enjoyed the experience with him. We (as a group) need more jam opportunities; there are just not enough to go around to my satisfaction. When I first started with the FDP I thought the NJ "Clamfest" was the only one; when my eyes were opened; my outlook went from local to regional. When I found out there were other jams in different regions I made it my mission in life to participate in as many as possible. The pandemic threw a "BIG" monkey wrench into that plan! When I see you I'll fill you in on some of my past experiences. I can honestly say there was never a dull moment. To any of the older FDP members: You will remember the requirement for drummers to post on the FDP. I did wash my hands and wipe my feet before posting!

Clamfest was always a good time. I ran the song selection process to ensure the wants of the players was taken into consideration. I know this one is more of a "what do you want to play" but the sheer number of attendees at Clamfest and my OCD made me put some rigor in the process. I always wanted to do the tunes the group wanted hence the voting and "List of Love". It just seemed to work out for us. With Pete paying his peeps (its his venue) to cook for us and the constraint of the time (it was always a decent run- 11 am start till about 6-7pm) and me wanting to maximize the number of songs was a challenge, we always got them all in. And everyone got to play. The 5pc horn section, K9 BigDog's B3 rig, and many monitors and speakers so the sound was perfect always made my day. Everyone chipping in to run sound, set up/breakdown and run cables always made it a joy. I wanted to make this one in Marietta but this is not the year. God willing and we are all around next year I will make the trek with Grizbear to represent Joisey!
so do us all proud and let me live vicariously thru you jammers!

I will be the first to "Testify" about Clamfest and K9-Big-Dog's B3 rig. I absolutely loved that Hammond organ sound thru the Leslie speakers; to me there is nothing like it. I will also admit that those involved with Clamfest and setting up appreciated the invention of wheels when K9 pulled up with his truck!
One thing I can spotlight about all of the different Jams is the comradery and spirit of every one involved. As G-Man said; we have played with a wide variety of horn sections, key-boards, vocalists, and a lot of different musical genres and styles. There was always something for everybody; and everyone brought their best and left their ego's in the parking lot.
To reinforce what my "Joisey" friend has stated. "God Willing" you will definitely be seeing me again, along with other "Joisey Jammers".

I used to play the flute, I got pretty good at it. Even with a simple bamboo flute. I was often asked to sit in. That all went away when I paralyzed my right arm. I Got maybe 60% but the bicep is useless can’t hold the damn thing up any longer. I’ve got a clarinet around here some place, I should pull it it out and learn how to play it. The cool thing about these types of instruments is you can play every tune, little competition for stage time as it can be worked into any tune.
I guess you could use two bassist at a time, one playing the root and anchoring the grove while the other playing more of a melody of the modes available, even at that it isn’t carved in stone, lots of room for improvisation.
I don’t really know much about music in a scolastic sense. When people talk the language of music I’m often lost, but when hear what they are doing I got it. Kind of like illiterate but can still speak OK.
It was interesting at Victor Wootens Bass and Nature camp, their were 5 instructors Victor of course, Chuck Rainey, Anthony Wellington, Dave Welsh and Steve Bailey. They all in some way told me it would be a lot easier for me if I did read music, but after a week they understood I knew what I was doing and wasn’t constrained by the rules. Back in 1960 I was diagnosed with dyslexia, glasses and training got me to were I could read and write, mostly. I can hold a text up to a mirror and read it as easily as strait on. Occasionally I’ll go out the wrong door, not noticing I read the “in” and “out” reversed in the glass. Written Music is much more difficult to get the images to play nice with my brain. My ears work just fine. It does keep me from studio work, except for when my band is recording or a buddy want’s me to record a few tracks. A good buddy of mine owns a studio and he would call me in occasionally.

Grizbear-Will definitely look into your song suggestions and ask Busta for his assistance on them.
Since we are a week away I need to post this.
Do the speed limit which is 25mph (or less) in the neighborhood!!! You NEVER know when a kid on a bike will appear! We also have deer in the hood too and some of the smaller ones well... let's just say they're nuts!
Not much else to say except be safe in your travels. So, looking forward to seeing you all!
Thanks

Thank You Zenland
My fellow Jammers. The "Joisey Contingent" is ready. (FYI: That's myself and the many voices in my head.) "WE" are all happy and exited to Jam.
I just recently completed a battery of medical tests and exams; all of my medical doctors were satisfied and gave me a clean bill of health for the trip. The only conflict is between my Psychiatrist and Psychologist. They suggested different treatments and therapy regarding the "Many voices in my head". Their compromise is to take no action at all. Prognosis: Look at the bright side, at least I'll have company on the drive down!
See you all soon.

Generally my most successful planning attempts are achieved with a bit of chaos in the mix, at least a bit of space for chaos. Elementary school taught me how to keep my place in line, later on I learned about the box and staying in it, I’ll pretty much avoid the middle and hang by the edges, “o)
I’ll be meeting up with my travel companion at the FDR State Park on the 21st, we will camp and head home on the 25th. It’s about an hour and a half to the jam.
