My fellow Jammers; I made it safely home to the "Griz-Cave"; back in the swamps of Joisey.
Thank You ALL for a FANTASTIC experience! It was, (from my point of view) worth the drive down & back.
(R.I.P. Bill; I never had the Honor of meeting Bill in Person, definitely my loss in that respect.)
@ ZENLAND: Great Job! Well done my friend. I was in awe of your studio, I have never seen such a variety of musical equipment in one place other than a "music store". I was also struck by all the different guitars that were there, and brought in by others. I am sure that some of those guitars were elite custom models, because I have never seen anything like them before.
(By the way; I was joking about my "phobia" regarding wires. FYI-NOTE to all: The drum-set was "miked", when you played the drum-set you were surrounded by multiple microphones and cables.)
I was so amazed by the guitar talent that was there. (I definitely have to rethink my jokes about you "string guys"!) The playing techniques I observed and the sounds that were created were awesome. Regardless of who was playing, I was sincerely impressed.
And to my fellow drummers; a job well done. I know my techniques and approach to playing are different; thank you for putting up with me. I have to admit that I did pick up some new techniques just watching. Don't worry, I will give you credit if I'm asked, "Where did you learn that?".
This is for all who attended; your level of hospitality was off the charts; Thank you all. You just reinforced one of my sayings; I go to these jams to see some old friends and to meet some new ones. You all proved that to be absolutely true.
And the food was excellent! Thank You! (I do have to figure out a way to get Busta-String's recipe; that was great.)
As previously stated: God Willing, you will be seeing me again; and I know some "Joisey-Jamers" who will want to tag along when that happens.
Grizbear-NJ, I sure hope you and others will make it back next year GOD Willing!!
It was a blast and I very much enjoyed your playing. I can definitely tell you've put in a Lot of hours and it shows!! You Rock!
Most of the equipment I have, has been purchased over the last 20+ years. It's fun to have and keeps me off the streets LOL! I really should have broke out the guitar I bought from Bill a few years back. It will be in rotation next Jam!
Got to thank and old friend from the FDP days for donating a box of guitar straps to give away. Thanks Guitargeezer!
We ran out of time on the cooking end so, next year will have some more items we didn't get a chance to make.
Just got home and unloaded the instruments into the air conditioned room. It’s freaking hot out there today.
I kind of wish I knew “any” of the tunes I played in that first set. Everyone was polite though and refrained from throwing stuff in my direction. I had a great time, it was good seeing you guys and the day couldn’t have been any better, the food, as “always” amazing.
Man you guys like to play “Loud” It was a pleasure meeting you Grizbear.
On the way home, before leaving GA. I stopped at a road side vegetable and fruit stand. Picked up some shelled peacan, boiled peanuts, and two amazing gourds large and solid enough to make an acoustic guitar and 34” scale acoustic bass. I’ll take before and after photos.

Thank You Zenland. I don't remember what Busta called it, but it was the BEST I ever tasted! As a matter of fact ALL the food was excellent. That fact alone is a major reason to return to your Jam in GA. You can't get Barbecue like, that north of the Mason/Dixon line! (Like in Joisey)(And all of the voices in my head agree!)
Can't wait for the E-Mail!

To my fellow Jammers in GA. Due to circumstances beyond "your" control, the Joisey Contingent WILL be attending this Jam Event. (You are now stuck with me and the many voices in my head.) All Hail "Sour Cream"!

My fellow Jammers: I have to share this with you.
Over the weekend I was discussing my trip to the GA Summer Jam with my siblings (I am the oldest of 11). When I got home I started to get texts/clips of Charlie Daniels singing his famous song, "The Devil Went Down to Georgia". This is living proof that my mental condition is generic! All of the voices in my head agree.

I don't know any fiddle players....well there is a classically trained violinist I know but, don't know if she could be here?? Shall I ask??

Maybe "Busta" could play the fiddle part on the guitar synth. (By the way: I meant to say that my mental condition is GENETIC) (At my age I am just happy to know how to turn the PC on)

zenland: You brought back an interesting memory my friend. Years ago I was participating in a DC Jam and met this woman who was a professional classical pianist. (She never played in any kind of a band.) If I remember correctly, this was the first time she ever played on an electric keyboard. She was a little shy at first; but it only took about five minutes and she figured out the keyboard and how to join in. SHE WAS GOOD! That alone brought all of the jammers to a new level of fun. She did some of the best improv's I have ever heard.
Grizbear-NJ No, Sour Cream at this Jam! This threw me for a loop and if it does the same for you I fully understand!!!
Busta Strang and Prolux cannot be here this year! I even asked if next year would be better but at our age take, what you can get!! There was some medical issues and timing with those issues that has stopped him from attending! Wish It Was Different!
Can't Stop! Gotta Rock!

Not a problem Zenland, I fully understand. Regardless; You are still stuck with me!
I have taken the position that I will attend as many Jam(s) as the good Lord allows me to do on this earth. When I get to heaven, I know I will have to audition for the "Holy Angels Orchestra"; I hear their standards are tough. So I need to get as much experience & practice in while I can.
We will Rock On my brother! "All Hail Sour Cream minus two" So put me in Coach, wherever you want!

Thank you my friend. FYI: I am refraining from my usual comments regarding "You String Guys"; I learned my lesson. (Don't let your alligator mouth get your chipmunk butt into trouble) Both at your Jam, and Busta's Jam; I met some of the best musicians I have ever played with. I still maintain that I am coming down to see some old friends and to make some new ones.
I never had the experience of going from a Joe "C" song to a ZZ Top song in the same set before. All of the voices in my head agree.
So put me in coach, I am ready to play!

I’ve put it on my calendar. I haven’t figured out all the over night options yet. I may be getting a bit older but I’am not ready to give it up to the reaper, just yet. I can’t recal were I stayed last year but I’ll find room in the proximity.
If your property had level ground I’d bring my one man tent. Yeah, I’m still camping on the ground too. I’m averaging about walking 25 miles a week for exercise, this does not include the standard daily walking around, which is easily an other mile or so.
I'm pushing 76 years old and seems "it's always something" that has me losing a step or two only to recover and do it all over again It's my plan to be there even if it's only for a short time.
My good friend Val is meeting me at the F. D. Roosevelt State Park, GA. on the 9th. We head home a couple days after the jam. We’ve already booked the camp site. She’s my touring the U.S. partner as well. The last 4 years we’ve hit the road for about 6 weeks. We even made it to San Antonio, my first time, other than having been born there.
I’ve seen a lot in my life, 6 years of it living in England and Germany. This experience made us, brother and two sisters total exraverts . I’m nothing like shy, just the opposite.
A couple years back driving the back roads of Texas, val an I stopped at junk/antique warehouse, acres of stuff outside bakeing in the Texas sun. We pulled in the RV. Out of the single wide came the owner, It was obvious he was irritated. He reluctantly walked us over to his building/workshop. Half of the shop was for sell the other side was projects behind a curtain. Val went straight for the curtain, the guy stopped her, told her no one goes behind the curtain. So while Val was looking around, I was taking in all the clues/tells, rodeo tack, whips, saddle repaires, then glanced at his book shelf. I see his copy of Ashley’s Book of Knots. That confirmed me he had made all the tack. I said you got my favorite book. He looked up, I Said Ashley’s book of Knots. He tells me yeah, I’ve got two of them so I’m not walking back and forth. A 180° turn in his attitude, I showed him some pictures of leather work, rope work, including my whips, showed off a few wood projects like the old growth Brazilian Mahogany Presision Bass. We spent a good 90 minutes BSing with the guy. Including behind the curtain, Val even purchased an item from behind the curtain.
As we departed heading east she’s just staring at me, kind of shaking her head in disbelief. Eventually she says how do you do that. She calls it ambushing. I may have gotten some of it from my dad, he was a Lit. ColoneL in the OSI, he used his spy trade on us all the time. I do read people, it’s not always conscious.
One time we were dinning at a restaurant in Maryland, while the waitress was serving us, dad asked the waitress what burrow of Monongahela was she from. She asked how he knew, he told her he recognized her accent, dad was from Menongahela.

Where was this place. I know there is a huge antique and flea market in Canton Tx. (pop approx 4700) 45 minutes east of Dallas off Hwy 20 where they have what they call “First Monday”. On the Weekend prior to the 1st Monday each month they are open for business. It is acres of stuff.

OK my friends; the "Joisey" contingent is READY !!! All of the voices in my head have voted, and it is unanimous. (That's a first) Anyway: Mr. Zenland has graciously approved my request to "freestyle" & "improvise" at any given opportunity that is presented to me during this Jam. Therefore any song challenge will be honored. "Let the games begin" (At my age, there aren't too many songs I don't know!)
I do have a question though? Is it true that crossing State Lines south of the Mason-Dixon Line with "Bud-Light" in the vehicle is a Capitol Offense?
