That’s sweet. I always have a 335 in my stable. Presently have a 2016 blonde figured 335 that is a great guitar .

I like the blonde too, and the red.

I have a Gibson 339, did everything I wanted out of a 335 without the accursed F holes.
Did I say lately how much I hate F holes?

I have a Gibson ES333,an ES175, and an Epiphone ES339, so I'm good to go. I also have a mid 60's Hofner Ambassador which is their version of a Gibson 330 or Epiphone Casino. I don't mind F holes at all.

I've wanted an ES335 since about '94 when a bought a cheapo copy but I could never justify the price of the real deal. I've already purchsased a very expensive dream guitar, not a Gibbo though, but made a concious descision I would never fork out over 3 grand again. A few months ago I purchased a Epiphone 335. From the day I picked it up in the shop to not long ago I really wanted to find deficincies and faults to justify a Gibby 335. I've failed. It is well built, no blemishes or faults, high attention to detail, plays like buttah, sounds sensational (the 335 attack!) looks good and fits the part. I even did an internal inspection to verify it's built the same as a Gibby, and yes it is.
So I reckon I'm part of the 335 club but cork-sniffers may argue it!

The modern Epis are fine guitars - the 'playability' difference between my Epi Casino (damn f holes ignored for the purpose of this) is minimal. Fit and finish is quite a ways behind the Gibsons I have, but...it's also $1500 or so less than the Gibsons are by and large. If I didn't have two Les Pauls I love, and can't justify another (since I prefer one to the other, and play it more anyway, even though they're the same exact model made a couple weeks apart)...I'd have snapped up one of last year's purple modern Les Paul Epis that came up in a heartbeat. The reason I bagged a Gibby 339 over an Epi as simply the lack of F holes and the deep blue color - both of which are rare to see, let alone on one guitar. At the time, since they hadn't done an affordable LP DC in ages, let alone in blue, I thought it was as close as I'd get to a LP DC. Fast forward half a decade, and I had a LP Jr DC in...blue.

I always wanted a 335 but could never justify the expense. In 2008 I bought a Custom Shop CS356 brand new and it was still cheaper than a used 335. It's in the top 2 of the best sounding and best playing guitars I have. It does the 335 thing quite well but with a smaller body.

I’ve never owned a 335, but for years I owned a Guild Starfire IV. I’ve been thinking about a 339 lately, or possibly a 335. Finding a particular model or color in stock can be a problem these days.

I have an Epi 335 Pro that I bought to soothe the loss of a 67 ES-335 I offed over 30 years ago. I barely play it. I would get a lot more out of the Epi if it were not for that stupid skinny neck.

I owned a cherry red ES-335 for a couple of years but preferred my Epiphone Casino Elite so much more I sold it.

I paid 1700 for my 335 new in 2017. I’ve never bonded with the 3 Epis I.ve had . The pots and pickups were not good . I like the playability of the Gibson’s , but finding that ONE for each person can be time consuming.

I started a SHB thread way back when to cover all bases. I've owned several SHB's, including a Heritage 535 and Epi Dot, but never a 335. I'm still digging my Ibanez Artcore.

For a long time I also wanted a real 335. But, like some have already stated, the cost of entry was too difficult to justify. Although, awhile ago, I did stumble across something that worked for me; Yamaha SA-2200. ibb.co/cT0LkVX

Bought a 1995 Gibson 335 a few years back. Great guitar! Cherry, Dot neck, 57 Classics. The binding is nicely yellowed. I would prefer tulip knob tuners, but this came with Grovers. Put a Hare Krishna sticker on the back of the head.

Great guitars.
Many want the smaller bodied versions, but I love the larger body. I have a habit of hunching over guitars, and the larger body helps avoid that.
For me ideal electric guitar tone is somewhere between 50s/60s blues, jazz, and soul/R&B, and the 335 does it well, although straight jazz on one is kinda a stretch.
I've swapped out the pickups in both of the 335s I've owned. I took out '57 Classics and put in Seth Lovers. They're just a little less boomy and a bit brighter. I might not care on another guitar, but I found the 335 can get a bit unruly if the pickups are too hot/dark. (Though, I did put a set of Duncan Distortions in a 335 copy for a customer years ago and those sounded great, go figure) If I had to do it a third time, I'd probably go with Lollar Imperials (low-wind).
My current one also has a Buzz Feiten nut and an aluminum tailpiece. I put a Gotoh bridge on it because the original didn't have enough travel to intonate. The post holes are a bit oversized, and I'm too lazy to put larger posts in. One of these days I'll either find a different bridge or swap the posts. (techs are always laziest with their own instruments)
One of these days I'll figure out how to decode the differences between the okay ones and the amazing ones. Neck profile is a big difference whenever a long neck is in play, and is sure is long on the usual Dot. Also, the center block is often a mix of maple and spruce, I believe spruce as kerfed buffers on the top and back to create a seal. I have a funny feeling if I got in deep on the ones that sounded really good I'd find something different, as spruce often adds so much detail to a guitar's tone, but that's just a hypothesis.

I inherited my Dad's Luther Dickinson ES-335 (P-90s, Bigsby). It might be the best guitar I've ever played.

(Though, I did put a set of Duncan Distortions in a 335 copy for a customer years ago and those sounded great, go figure) The single Dirty Fingers in my no-f hole 339 is astonishingly good - it can do faux jazzbox if I roll the treble off and cut the output to about 25% quite well, but it screams like a bat out of hell on demand.

^ That would be my "won the lotto" guitar. Never won the lotto. Just worked really hard all my life. Retired from my job as a longshoreman after 42 years just over a year ago. Oh yeah. Never got married, never had kids. That helps.

Robot? That, my friend was the most worthless window fan I've ever purchased.
That picture is in the upstairs loft of my old house. Way too much air for that little fan to push in or out. I've since retired and moved. New city, new house, new music room and central air!

It seems Sweetwater is out of most of the 335s right now, so I signed up to get an email when they get an Ebony one in.
I got an email from the sales department asking if I want to go ahead and buy one, and when they come in I'll have one reserved.
Must.
Resist.

I had a similar scenario, with Sweetwater, regarding a Gretsch 6120T. I opted not to make the purchase but rather wait until they were back in stock. Shortly thereafter I was able to locate one locally and pulled the trigger. Several weeks later I received an email from my Sweetwater rep who stated that it did not appear that they would be getting any of the model, that I was interested in, back in stock for some time. I replied advising him that I was all set as I found one and he seemed to be cool with that.
