Haven't updated in a while. It's almost to the end of "water season" here and I've been trying to hit the blue holes as much as possible. Was here yesterday; pic taken a few weeks ago. It's about 12 ft deep in the middle and you can dive off the rock. There are a bunch of spots like this along the trails around here but this one is pretty cool since it's super deep, up the trail a ways so usually empty, and there's a hidden water feature underneath one of the rocks.

One of the missions my USAF Squadron was responsible for was resupplying the scientists working down at Cape McMurdo, Antarctica. It was an amazing mission to fly! My copilot took this pic of me on the ice with my Lockheed C-141B Starlifter and 13,000 ft Mt Erebus ( a live volcano) letting off some steam in the distance. They keep a VERY close eye on it as it is the largest active volcano in the southern hemisphere. It was October 1990 and the temp was -22F. 6

Awesome pic 6L6, can’t imagine the logistics that made it happen.

Great pics, nice exposure on the last one. Dappled lighting, subject in sun, background shaded, low ISO, wide aperture; ends up having nice bokeh and a totally isolated subject which makes the colors stand out. My favorite type of lighting for backyard still life/macro type pics.

Thank you. That shrub looked really awesome in person. That was taken in northern California, at a salmon hatchery. It was kind of a dry, and rocky area. It was a morning shot, and it was indeed solid shade behind the shrub.

I like that, Larry. I like how the trees are silhouettes, and there is an unusual amount of contrast naturally in the clouds. Very nice.

Has it been asked here, yet? Is there a preference, a la Maple vs Rosewood, regarding Mirrorless vs DSLR? Still trying to decide....I have the 6D Mkii and a D7100.Wondering whether to pull the trigger on a Canon RP, or R.

I've been shooting film SLR and DSLR, but the high-end mirrorless stuff, like the Fujifilm X line and Sony's offerings, is really tempting. In-body image stabilization and "what you see is what you get" EVF are really cool advancements IMO, and would make the whole shooting experience much more intuitive. If I had the cash I'd definitely get an X-T4 and a few lenses.

I have no real desire to jump to mirror-less. First of all, they're just too dang expensive right now. I don't know why I'd scrap my current gear, to spend double the money on something that is offering something I don't really need, and isn't a lot more then I already have. If I had to have dead silent shutter for wildlife photography as a pro, then ya. I don't feel I've come close to achieving everything I can do with the current gear I have. Nikon D750 full frame, D500, 200-500, 28-300, 14, 50. The gear I have can do everything I need.

I use a mirrorless Fuji XT1 but it was my first real digital camera outside of a couple old point-and-shoots. If I had a nice DLSR with lenses doubt I'd see the need to change. I got the XT1 because it's portable, has decent lens support, and has good iso/shutter-speed controls so is easy to shoot manual. There are probably many DLSRs that could do the same. If you like the sensor/lenses/controls and the pictures the camera takes, there's probably no real need to upgrade.

I’m a DSLR shooter, but I have a Canon G9X which is a superb (very) small P&S. I don’t see the need for me to go mirrorless.
