I only have two electrics, two acoustics, and one bass.
I'm always itching for a new guitar. I'd like that Robbie Robertson HS Strat, except for the bronzing.

OK, I've received my Danelectro 60th Anniversary 59 NOS+, in Blue Metalflake. My Sweetwater guy (Matt) gave me a few bucks off the sales price. It arrived without damage, good double packing. Cosmetically, it is perfect. Beautiful finish all over and no construction defects that I can find. Those Koreans know how to do it. Checking setup: the string centering on the fingerboard is fine. A little extra room on both the treble and bass sides. The neck relief is 0.010', which is what I usually set mine to. The intonation was right on for high E,B,G strings and about 5 cents out for the bottom strings. I successfully set the rest up. Note this has individual saddle adjustments and also 'master' bridge location adjustments on both sides. The action was set to 1/16" across the board with no buzzing. The (metal)nut clearance is high at about .025" above the first fret. I will reduce that when I change strings (but surprisingly, it doesn't go out of tune with cowboy chords). I heard a ping when bending the g string. Lubed the nut and the ping was still there. Turned out the g string nut slot has a small ridge in the middle, as you can get the ping when moving the string back and forth sideways. I'll smooth that out. Frets are shiny/smooth and there are no sharp fret ends or sprout. Did I mention it weighs only 6 pounds!! Lightest guitar I own. Next is my Casino at 6.4 pounds. Good strap buttons, but the neck button is cramped, you need a narrow strap end to fit it in. Tuners are fine. Pots operate fine, with a little resistance that I like. Switch is positive. Played a little thru my AC-15 normal channel, it certainly is jangly. The bridge pickup required raising. Now it is set to about 1/16 while the neck is about 3/32. The middle position sounds really sweet, not only adding some bass but sounds like it boosts the midrange too. Played thru a Glove OD pedal (clone of OCD) it gets an awesome tone. This thing will really cut thru. Played thru the Top Boost channel, still sounds great. Doesn't seem it will feedback easily, even tho it is semi-hollow. The front and back is pretty stiff. Although it seems to have a slight internal echo on high notes. That's all I can think of at the moment. Definitely a different sound than typical Strat/Tele/Gibson. If you want something different it might be for you!

Recently I've gotten the itch. I've been good over the past 5 years or so, adding only a cheap import Fender Tele in that time. But I sort of have a like/hate relationship with that guitar, as I tried to upgrade the tuners only to find out that the vintage Tele tuners I purchased don't fit - they are slightly larger.
For a while I've had an itch for a shred guitar - the only one I have is Jackson Soloist, and I look at it more like a work of art. Soooo...I think I'm going to pull the trigger on an Ibanez (when they eventually get the one I want in stock). I don't think I've ever owned an Ibanez, even though I really like them when I've played them.

My last shred purchase was a Euro BC RichBitch, (NOT Korean!) That's a sold wood top on there, no thin veneer, I love it. I put a locking roller bridge on it: Came with the coffin case: I liked this one so much I picked up another, a black one with EMG's in it: So now the pair can keep each other company:

guildx700, That is a beautiful axe! Thanks. Those Euro Bitches are pretty rare things to flush out and find as they hardly ever come available. The black one is a Korean, and although it's nice, that Euro is light years better, it's easily as good as the best USA ones ever were, It has amazing build, action and tone. The fretwork is outstanding too. The similar looking Korean ones have a paper thin veneer top, average at best fretwork/action. The instant clue that it's not a Euro is the really thin walnut neck strips on the Korean ones: EURO:

“It's always funny until someone's eye gets put out!! “ My thoughts exactly. Sitting down on the chair that started Auf Kiltre’s furniture thread, cradling the Euro Bitch........ It’s like the start of an episode of CSI:Moe’s

It’s like the start of an episode of CSI:Moe’s Seriously though, it really is a super comfortable, light, well balanced, easy to play axe. I find no fault with it, which for me is pretty rare. I've done a lot of my longer gigs with it that didn't call for a shred guitar, but I still used it as I knew I would be fine with it. It actually is quite flexible, clean it sounds great, and the more you throw overdrive at it the more it comes alive and sings. This one's a keeper.

So you don’t think that a pointy guitar and a chair made out of pointy horns could be a good set up for a procedural drama?
I’m very sorry but my first introduction to BC Rich involved Twisted Sister. I appreciate that the guitars can be versatile and be very comfortable to play - and sound good.

There was a time I truly hated pointy guitars... That is until I wandered into some small odd cafe/ music store in some dive area near Chicago (the guitars were handcuffed to the wall) and I tried out my first USA BC Rich....I was hooked. Could not afford one back then...but I kept my eye out on and off for years until this one came along.

I don’t hate pointy guitars. I know that some people do. It’s just that I can’t ever picture myself playing one without some kind of impalement occurring. I do, however, understand that if a good sounding, playable guitar presents itself - then love is blind.

Haha - I remember those BC Rich guitars from back in the day. They never appealed to me. I remember our bass player had a BC Rico...which was some sort of import version or something. I go for the more conservative shred guitars like the strat-shaped Jacksons or Ibanez.

I thought I'd sworn off Les Pauls decades ago, but a friend of my wife's husband brought over his Les Paul Tribute, and I gotta say I'd buy it in a heartbeat. It's light for a paul, resonates as all get out, and is actually quite a bright sounding guitar. Nice fat neck, I'm diggin it!It's a 2017 model,I thought the modern ones were supposed to be dogs, not this one,no sir. This guy is one of those that buys guitars thinking he'll actually learn to play it.He paid $650 for it,I've already offered $750 for it.He left it with me to play,I'm keeping my fingers crossed.Might have to sweeten the pot a little more.

You know , I will get some money when I retire in September . I have thought about it alot, but Im on the fence about buying a new guitar. Im actually quite happy with what I have. I have 2 Martin derads , 2 strats (a CS and AVRI Thin skin) , a lester and a 335 . Bought one Gretsch that I couldnt bond with . Not that I dont have holes in my line up, but right now I dont really feel like Im lacking. Still contemplating maybe pull the trigger on maybe that surf green strat with a maple neck( all my strats are rosewood), find that tele that Ive never had or try to find a different Gretsch that scratches that itch. Maybe a 00 Martin or even a nice amp. Or do I just continue to be happy with what I have ? Hmm . Decisions , decisions.

"Bought one Gretsch that I couldnt bond with"
You mean the 5420 you were gushing about on the FDP that ignited my gas for that model? I got proof through the archive link man! LOL. Been there done that, I know how it goes. I'm bonding with mine and don't see that changing.

I might revisit it someday , but it seems I’m mostly a strat /335 guy .

You had the Sweetwater exclusive with orange stain, didn't you? That was a close runner up for me, in fact if SW had them in stock at the time I probably would have jumped.

Then they came out with the Cadillac Green one and I was so tempted. I think I would be better off visiting a store that has several types of Gretsches and spend time playing them. Around these parts they are somewhat of a rare bird.

I look at it this way. Its a secondary niche guitar that to my ear does the Gretsch thing very convincingly. Gretsch aficionados might differ. But like the late great FDPer Seth Rosen once opined about an Indonesian made Gypsy guitar, "But its ok, I'm not a real gypsy".

The bug bit yesterday Came across a video for a offset style thinline, the Revelation RJT60 TL
This is the only colour available, which I dont much like and the tort guard looks very ordinary.
Then of course there is another model due to come out which I would prefer, but it is caught in delays due to the virus
So I am caught in a bind caused by too much information.
If I only knew about the green one I would have it by now.
But I now want the deluxe model in sunburst
