I'm normally pretty good at tamping down the urge. But these days... yeah, I'm feeling the desire for a little retail therapy. I'm dealing with it by sitting on my hands. A good idea since I'm going on official layoff starting April 1. Anybody else find themselves lingering over potential purchases more than usual? Here's one of the sirens I'm resisting: eastwoodguitars.com/collections/guitars/products/airline-mercury-dlx

Other than work my 4 hours a day as directed, I've been surfing Sweetwater and Ebay a lot.
I'm jonesing for a Flying V in natural.
RAWK!

If you can hang on for a bit, my guess is there will be some good sales in another month or 2. Granted if you've wound up having to stay at home, it could be a great time to blast away on a new guitar (or other gear purchase of choice) to while away your time. But with the economy in shutdown mode, even the on-line retailers are going to have to start thinking about getting stuff off their shelves. Patience will reap some pretty good rewards is my bet.

Yes yes yes!
I’ve never owned a ES 335. In the past few days I’ve been looking online at prices for the Epiphone version. Due to the fact that it would have to be a mail order purchase as the music shops are shut, I could very probably only justify spending a few hundred pounds. I also fancy a Junior.
It’s the isolation that’s making me think this way.

I always prowl for deals. I'm watching a special edition Reverend Double Agent. It just had another price drop, recently. It's not quite where I want to be.
Yes, and if I could land a decent 335, I'm in.

It’s the isolation that’s making me think this way. The most consistent in quality online mail order has been Sweetwater for me. 2 guitars, 2 hits. However it has to be $299 or greater (which an Epiphone ES-335 Pro easily fits that parameter) for them to do their "55 point inspection". Every thing has their 2 year warranty where you can send it back during that time. I just scratched my itch for a new guitar. Ordered it from them and it came 4 days later. I especially like it where they show 2 to 4 different guitars of the same model with professional photography of each one and what you see is the exact one you get.

Every player should own a 335 at least once in their lifetime.

You’re just a bunch of enablers!
There used to be a standard response in the old place along the lines of “You deserve a ***** “ and it went on for a few paragraphs.
I suppose I should do a search. It was a very common response to equipment queries.

Yes, I’m always on the lookout for another G&L Tele. But, I have three and don’t really need another. I love the G&L ASAT guitars though.

I'm looking for an acoustic archtop to play fingerstyle jazz on.
Just cant help it, L5's, 17" lower bouts, floating pickups and all that are what I'm thinking about.

I was craving, until a week or so ago, for an ES335. Gibson is way to expensive so an Epi Dot is what I decided I'll buy. None available locally but I fell in love with an Epi Casino Coupe and made up my mind within 5 minutes I could not live without it. No more 335 cravings, but Ill see what the future holds.
The 335 cravings had been eating at me since the end of 2002 when I offloaded a fantastic looking cheapo copy that sounded good acoustically but had a bolt on neck that moved and really bad sounding pups. Wasn't worth spending money on upgrades. For nearly 18 years I craved a replacement but only ever wanted a real-deal Gibson.

It would be a good distraction, that's for sure!

fulfilled my 335 craving a few years ago with a Epiphone Sheraton II..for the price it turned out to be a very nice guitar. I did my own string adjustments and intonation. Still not a real 335.

Yeah but it is nice! I could live with the headstock art if I had one but prefer they change to something simple but elegant! They have a Sheraton II pro now that people are raving about Feast your eyes on this and read the reviews www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ETSPWRGH--epiphone-sheraton-ii-pro-wine-red

I'd like a Mosrite copy. I'm in a "buy one, sell one" mode, so I'd have to decide what to sell if I find one. I like the Hallmark 60 (expensive) or maybe the Danelectro "the 64". Anyone have one?

Yes, I’d love to acquire something new. Considering I’m down to only two guitars, there are lots of possibilities.
However, I’m definitely going to hold off for a while and see what transpires.

Ok ok, I scratched my itch with a 60th Anniversary Jazzmaster, Vintage Blonde or Desert Sand. The online shop I bought it from said Desert Sand, but I don't think in 2018 they made desert sand. Black, Blue, Blonde and Red.
Anyway, it's purtie, and I like it a lot. At first I had trouble getting the pup's volume leveled out with both pups. But, now that I've got it....wowy it's purtie and it plays grrrreat! And best of all, it sounds woooonnnnderful!
Sold 2 guitars to get it but they were ones that I played the least.
Of course now that we are home together, my wife has no where to go by herself. That's usually when I let it rip. But nooooo, the lockdown is keeping that at bay.
I'm not sorry I didn't wait for the "good deals". I think I got one anyway.

I got an itch for a Danelectro 59 NOS+, 60th anniversary. But I've got a bid in for a Danelectro 64. Love that Mosrite look.

I did try to scratch the itch for a Moderne clone. I found a new Dillion. Sadly, I wasn’t happy with the quality, so back it went.

I've bought a Strat and a Les Paul in the past two months, which is very unusual for me to do. Now I'm still browsing Reverb daily and drooling. It's the world's longest snow day and I'm going nuts.
