I'll so that, LTB, but it may take a while for me to settle down. I've loved gold top since I started noticing electric guitars somewhere around the age of 10. There are several decades of GAS behind this purchase.

There is always part of me that wants something new... But the last thing I need is more stuff! I've been fighting the urge by working on my existing guitars, amps and pa system. When I can play out again I'll have everything working perfectly! I've also got a couple new projects on my workbench... I guess I could practice more, but I know it wouldn't help. db

A Les Paul Custom. The classic black beauty. I passed decades ago on an original P90 Black Beauty, BIG mistake.

Can you also get the 7 dwarf guitars to round out the set?

Haha! Yeah, I'm an 80's type of guy. I do have 2 Strats and a LP, so I do like the "standard-type" guitars. And I really didn't want to spend anywhere near that much, as I was actually looking to buy a "knocking around" guitar. But since I can't go to the store to play a variety of them and find an acceptable cheaper option, I figured I'd play it safe and go a bit more upscale.

I have it, but due to strict quarantine rules in my house (don't ask), I haven't opened it up yet. I'll likely open the box tomorrow and see what's what.
On another note - I bought the guitar from Sweetwater. The cheap case I ordered with it was out of stock, so the sales rep (after asking him) decided in order to get the the guitar out the door he'd sell me a more expensive case at the same price.

I scratched and bought a les Paul custom 1968 repro in a tri color burst. It’s supposed to come Monday from a guy off Reverb. Now I have to sneak in the house.

ok, the report: The guitar is nice. I paid to have them set it up (I could have done it, but I wanted them to catch any problems up front so that they could substitute another guitar if they saw a problem).
What can I say? The guitar is solid, nicely set up, plays great. I opted to have 10's put on it...maybe I should have gone with 9's? Not sure.
The one thing that sort of bugs me a little about the guitar is the fretboard. Don't get me wrong - it's fine - but it sort of has that "cheap MIM" feel to it. Yes, it is a MIM guitar. And no, there's no fret sprout. It just has that "unfinished" feel to it. Still, nice guitar. Was it worth what I paid? Probably not. Then again, I could be going by prices from 10 years ago that are still living in my head for a guitar like this.

For the fretboard, get some pure bee's wax and rub it down. It'll make a difference.

Rocky,
I suspect that Ibanez would do you right. I’ve got an AM95L and it is really nice. I do need to rewire the pots. I’ve put that off for years.

I regret not buying one years ago for under 5 bills. I bought a Dot instead that was a tone turd. I wonder what's difference between the AM95 and AM93.

Hmmm...that's an option. I'll have to find that somewhere. All I have is Maguires car wax. I wonder what that would do?
